Hey guys. I just got a real cool testimony about a youth camp I went on just before Christmas.

Our youth band is really good (I'm not just saying this). We've actually been rated as one of the top youth bands in our province in South Africa. The problem came when, because we were good, we started to rely on our own strength and got just a little bit too cocky in our attitudes.
Anyway, we had this one new guy in the band, Dylan, and he played acoustic for us. We were at the camp for 3 nights and we'd hired this huge system to use. I mean, this thing had everything that a professional setup should have. It was brilliant!
The first 2 nights went okay. One or two of us made mistakes but no biggy. The last night though, we came in for the prayer meeting and prayed that God would move that night. Meanwhile, we're actually thinking to ourselves, "Ya, whatever, we're gonna rock anyway and everyone's gonna say how good we were..."

This is where things got very interesting:

In the first song, our bassist lost all his music because the window was open and all his music paper blew away. Our drummer was losing the beat and seemed really stiff (if you knew how good this drummer is you'd know that this is impossible for him - he never loses the beat!). I played electric and knew all the leads back-to-front but they just wouldn't flow nicely that night. Stuff that I knew I could play in my sleep, I was having to really concentrate on playing. Our lead singer's mic cut out. The other singers forgot their words and started to sing off. The 2 keyboards were playing different things and had no clue where they were. The acoustic guitar lost it's place and rhythm all the time.
And all this time our bassist is trying to figure out what the hec we're playing cause he didn't know the songs by heart!

Hence, we played terribly. I mean, imagine the worst American Idol audition! That person would probably get more votes than us, the way we were playing!

Suddenly, we heard the congregation start to cry!
"Oh, come on! Our playing isn't that bad!" *lol*

I've never felt the Spirit move the way it did that night. People everywhere were getting delivered, healed, filled with the Holy Spirit and just touched by God! The band just stopped playing. I tried to carry on playing a few leads but eventually stopped cause it just wasn't working.
In the end, it was just Dylan left playing the same 4 chord riff for the next 2 hours!
We'd flown in a special guest speaker but never got round to that. He just stood there and cried with all the people.

It was at that moment that God spoke to everyone in the band and just said a very simple, "I don't need you..."
I'll never forget that as long as I live! We all just heard God at the same time and just looked at each other.

Since then we've grown intensely as a worship band and now we give God all the glory, like it's supposed to be. Because of this, God has blessed us and made us even better musicians.
He is awesome and His ways are perfect!

Hope you've been challenged.

wow arent youth camps the best!!! well i had a great youth camp two weeks ago aswell!
well my youth group was kind of a popularity contest if you know what i mean and ppl werent focusing on god and we were worried what others thought about us.On the second night the speaker prayed that intimidation would be broken over the youth and it was! people started singing loudly and dancing and doing cartwheels and falling to the ground and ppl who didnt know how to started speaking in tongues including me! And i have been a pretty shy person but i even talked on the mic about what god has done for me! and it all happened at camp which was also my birthday!! :)
