  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

"Political tags-such as royalist, communist, democrat, populist, fascist, liberal, conservative, and so forth-are never basic criteria.
The human race divides politically into those who want people to be controlled and those who have no such desire.
The former are idealists acting from the highest motives for the greatest good of the greatest number.
The latter are surly curmudgeons, suspicious and lacking in altruism.
But they are more comfortable neighbors than the other sort."
-Robert A. Heinlein

The ability to quote is a serviceable substitute for wit. -- W. Somerset Maugham

Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend. Inside a dog, it's too dark to read. -- Groucho Marx

"Years ago my mother used to say to me, she'd say, "In this world, Elwood, you must be" -- she always called me Elwood -- "In this
world, you must be oh so smart or oh so pleasant." Well, for years I was smart.
I recommend pleasant.
And you may quote me."

A Warning to the West

Once when I was in the Himalayas, I was sitting
upon the bank of a river; I drew out of the water a
beautiful, hard, round stone and smashed it.
The inside was quite dry. The stone had been
lying a long time in the water, but the water had
not penetrated the stone. It is just like that with
the "Christian" people of the West. They have
for centuries been surrounded by Christianity,
entirely steeped in its blessings, but the Master's
truth has not penetrated them. Christianity is not
at fault; the reason lies rather in the hardness of
their hearts. Materialism and intellectualism
have made their hearts hard. So I am not
surprised that many people in the West do not
understand what Christianity really is.

...Footprints...

One night a man had a dream about walking along the beach with the Lord. The sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand: his and the Lord's.

After the last scene flashed before him, he looked at the footprints, noticing that at the most difficult times in his life there was only one set of footprints.

"Lord, you said you'd walk with me all the way if I followed you. But during the most troulbesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints. Why did you leave me when I needed you most?"

The Lord replied, "I love you and would never leave you. In your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, that was when I carried you."

~~ True Love ~~

1 Corinthians 13:1-13
If I speak in the tongues of men and angels,
but have not love,
I have become sounding brass or a tinkling symbol.

And if I have prophecy and know all mysteries and all knowledge,
and if I have all faith so as to remove mountains,
but have not love, I am nothing.

And if I dole out all my goods, and
if I deliver my body that I may boast
but have not love, nothing I am profited.

Love is long suffering,
love is kind,
it is not jealous,
love does not boast,
it is not inflated.

It is not discourteous,
it is not selfish,
it is not irritable,
it does not enumerate the evil.
It does not rejoice over the wrong, but rejoices in the truth

It covers all things,
it has faith for all things,
it hopes in all things,
it endures in all things.

Love never falls in ruins;
but whether prophecies, they will be abolished; or
tongues, they will cease; or
knowledge, it will be superseded.

For we know in part and we prophecy in part.

But when the perfect comes, the imperfect will be superseded.

When I was an infant,
I spoke as an infant,
I reckoned as an infant;

when I became [an adult],
I abolished the things of the infant.

For now we see through a mirror in an enigma, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know as also I was fully known.

But now remains
faith, hope, love,

these three;

but the greatest of these is love.

~~From Bible~~ (I don't know their author name)

The Ballad of Reading Gaol

...And thus we rust Life's iron chain
Degraded and alone:
And some men curse, and some men weep,
And some men make no moan:
But God's eternal Laws are kind
And break the heart of stone.

And every human heart that breaks,
In prison-cell or yard,
Is as that broken box that gave
Its treasure to the Lord,
And filled the unclean leper's house
With the scent of costliest nard.

Ah! happy those whose hearts can break
And peace of pardon win!
How else may man make straight his plan
And cleanse his soul from Sin?
How else but through a broken heart
May Lord Christ enter in?
