  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

ON A BRIDGE ACROSS FOREVER

On a bridge across forever,
We have found the perfect love,
Pure and sweet, alive with passion,
Sent to us by God above...

On a bridge across forever,
We will banish pain and fear,
And move onward, sharing always
All the things that makes life dear...

On a bridge across forever,
We will live eternally...
Bound on earth, and joined hereafter...
Love incarnate...you and me..."

Nothing is more dangerous to the advancement of God's kingdom than religion. But this is what Christianity has become. Do you not know that it is possible to kill Christ with such Christianity! After all, what is more important - Christianity or Christ? And I'll say even more: we can kill Christ with the Bible! Which is greater: the Bible or Christ? Yes, we can even kill Christ with our prayer. When we approach God with our prayers full of self-love and self-satisfaction, when the aim of our prayers is to make our world great, our prayers are in vain.

"And a highway shall be there,
and it shall be called the Holy Way;
the unclean shall not pass over it;
and the fools shall not err therein.
No lion shall be there,
nor shall any ravenous beast come up on it;
but the redeemed shall walk there.
And the ransomed of the Lord shall return,
and come to Zion with singing;
everlasting joy shall be upon their heads;
they shall obtain joy and gladness,
and sorrow and sighing shall flee away."

Isaiah 35:8-10

When death, the great reconciler, has come, it is never our tenderness that we repent of, but our severity. --George Eliot

One truly Christian life will do more to prove the divine origin of Christianity than many lectures. It is of much greater importance to develop Christian character, than to exhibit Christian evidences. --J.M. Gibson

A CREED FOR THOSE WHO HAVE SUFFERED

I asked God for strength, that I might achieve
I was made weak, that I might learn humbly to obey...

I asked for health, that I might do great things
I was given infirmity, that I might do better things...

I asked for riches, that I might be happy
I was given poverty, that I might be wise...

I asked for power, that I might have the praise of men
I was given weakness, that I might feel the need of God...

I asked for all things that I might enjoy life
I was given life, that I might enjoy all things...

I got nothing I asked for - but everything I hoped for...

Almost despite myself my unspoken prayers wer answered
I am among men, most richly blessed!

How completely awesome is that?!?!

Oh, Christi, those quotes by George Elliot and J.M. Gibson are wonderful! :)

I went to hear a speaker tonight who dismissed us with this wonderful Franciscan benediction:

May God bless you with discomfort...
at easy answers, half-truths, and superficial relationships,
so that you may live deep within your heart.

May God bless you with anger...
at injustice, oppression, and exploitation of people,
so that you may work for justice, freedom, and peace.

May God bless you with tears...
to shed for those who suffer from pain, rejection, starvation, and war,
so that you may reach out your hand to comfort them and to turn their pain into joy.

And may God bless you with enough foolishness...
to believe that you can make a difference in this world,
so that you can do what others claim cannot be done.

Amen
