Cool air?

Hi,
From time to time over the past couple of months, I have been feeling this cool air around me especially around my face and neck area. And no, most of the times the windows aren't open and there is no way for drafts to enter rooms etc. When these incidents first started happening, I believed it was the Holy Spirit...it could be, I am not sure.

For example about a month ago I was watching an evangelist on television and whilst he was praying, he said something like, "...the Holy Spirit is coming...here it comes...whoosh!" and suddenly I felt a cool breeze on the side if my face and body. It freaked me out a bit, but I didn't think much of it. Sometimes it happens when I watch evangelistic programmes. Prior to this I could feel no breeze, the room was warm and the windows were shut.
Another incident happened whilst I was in the library. I was studying and all of a sudden I could feel cool air around my face and neck. I cannot describe it well - it felt like cool air but it wasn't a breeze, it was just stationary almost as if it was hovering around me. It lasted for a couple of minutes then went.

Another incident was whilst I was lying in bed trying to fall asleep and I could feel the air blowing on my neck.

Another significant time it happened, was when I was on this forum. I was searching about Luke the physician and I could feel the air hovering around my neck. Everywhere i moved my head it was just stuck to me. So I decided to test it to see if it was and evil spirit and it moved to the back of my head and eventually I didn't feel it anymore. I never felt it for about a week and then it came back. Bear in mind this happens occasionally- here and then.

(I apologise for the lengthiness) Has this ever happened to any of you guys? Do you still experience it? If so, what is it? Is it the Holy Spirit?
This isn't the kind of breeze you would feel on a windy day...it's different.

PS: I also remember a time when I was praying with my palms faced upwards and I felt a breeze/air through my hands...

i know exactly (well may be not) how you feel. Our 'normal' congregation is charismatic, and it is not unusual to have people in the congregation waving flags.

however, on a couple of occasions, i have turned round to see if anyone was stood beside me as i experienced similar things, being certain someone was blowing over me. On these occasions I have had specific scriptures for things and people.

Maybe the wind is the Holy Spirit wispering into our ears.

p.s. such events for me are relatively uncommon as I am not the one pushing for signs and wonders, they come or they don't, i do not chase after them.

p.p.s. i cannot be doing with the tv evangelists, boom, waft bam, or whatever else they have to say... for me it is the Holy One (blessed be He) and myself. I don't go forward for prayer, if God wants to do something with me He can do it where I am, unless He sends someone with a specific word. I am the contradiction.

Yes, this is the Holy Spirit....also a warm honey sensation is Him too....I will pm you with more details on how to recognise the difference between demonic spirits presence in and on your body and the Holy Spirits presence.

Due to the fact that I do not wish to cause an outbreak and debate session in this section of the forum I will pm you.....anyone else who is curious please feel free to pm me too.

Two tests we can use to discern whether something is of the Lord or otherwise are these scriptures, showing us a clear and beautiful picture of Who the Holy Spirit is and what He does in us and through us when He touches our lives:


1 Cor. 13

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
5 It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8 Love never fails.

Gal. 5

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control.

So for instance, if the gentle breeze/coolness you feel is inspiring you to rejoice in Him, enhancing your peace in Him, increasing your love or appreciation of Him, giving you more love for others and a desire to pray for or to act for their blessing, then surely it is Him.

If, on the other hand, a manifestation causes us to experience the opposite of those attributes in the scriptures I posted - such as vengeful, selfish, proud, distrustful, fearful, then maybe it's something else.

Thank you The Lord is my banner. I usually feel calm and at peace, with no manifestations of the things that are opposite to the fruits of the Holy Spirit. Its when I really don't expect it, that I feel freaked out. I don't wait for it to happen, but when it does, it is usually out of the blue.

Joh 3:8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit."

Jesus was talking about this Wind or Cool Breeze, saying that this wind emits from born again believers and we can hear the sound of this wind or indeed feel the wind.This is the same Wind that the disciples experienced on the day of Pentecost.

Act 2:1 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
Act 2:2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting

So yes what you experienced was the presence of the Holy Spirit.

I will go off the ledge and say that the roaring lion is trying to seduce and deceive you.

If that was Holy Spirit I can assure you that you will know.

There is much magic, new age, and mysticism practices in many churches today, and counterfeit spirits and the Kundalini spirit are ripe amongst man.

Has you church ever practiced “Contemplative Prayer” and “Prayer Soaking”?

There you are it freaked you out, and know that the Holy Spirit was talking to you then, for you to think and feel that.

Now if this is happening to you consistently, then you need to our Lord Jesus Christ in prayer.

Many, so-called leaders have been in bed with the enemy. Many seduced and deceived Christians practice other practices of other religions, and believe if they put “Christian” onto the practices, making it an oxymoron, then it’s harmless, and they believe that the deities of those practices can’t touch them.

If they only knew how the “father of lies”, the roaring lion had devoured them.

Now if any of those people lay hands on you then all they can give you is “deception” and “counterfeit”. So be very careful who you allow to lay hands on you.

Has you church ever practiced “Contemplative Prayer” and “Prayer Soaking”?

I have heard that such practices can open you up to demonic spirits.
I understand how it could be bad to try to empty your mind and think about nothing. I don't do any rituals or repeat a word over and over to become still. But sometimes I just sit still, focus on the Lord and rest in His prescence. Is this bad?

Sad as it is, those demonic spirits are of the Kundlini spirit of healing, which is Hinduism.

Well it's not bad, as His Word says to be still in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ, but I have known some who have been seduced and deceived by a counterfeit spirit, because they were in the presence of an unholy spirit. We need to be very discerning and cautious these days of the last days of perilous times.

Why not play good heartfelt praise and worship quietly in the background, and open your spiritual mind, your heart, up to the praise and worship, and not your carnal mind, the brain!

The meditation spoken of in the Bible - by David for instance - is of the kind where you read/hear scripture and ponder it, chew it over in your mind, let your heart be still and remember God's word, worship Him, receive His revelation on a passage you've wanted to grasp more fully or to know how it applies to your own situation etc.
That is safe and wholesome, and a completely different thing from Yoga,TM emptying your mind etc.

Worship and praise keep you focussed on God, and as for the carnal mind, that's being renewed by His word. Pick songs carefully - not all "Christian" songs have much the truth in them, and a good few contain some rubbish!

No, I have never been to a church that practices "contemplative prayer" or "prayer soaking". In fact I am out of church now - I am in a new area and trying to find a good church. I agree that some spirits are deceiving and I have to learn how to discern them. I will pray to God about it.

Keep your spiritual antenna working, eyes and ears open, and don't believe everything you see or hear, the Holy Spirit will guide and lead you to all understanding and knowledge of those "earthly and heavenly things" of the natural and supernatural realms.
