Looking for testimony and advice from other people who have recovered (or are recovering) from the false teachings of Gnosticism.

CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm not sure if this will relevant to you. But, I use to read the gnostic texts heavily and I was pulled in by this false doctrine. For me personally, I believe it opened up a way in which the dark side could access my life as, i would have evil entities in my room at night, during the day, I would hear demonic voices. I was heavily oppressed. Even after I was saved, these entities would harass me, at times, I could feel them hovering over me, trying to convince me to come back to their side and that look how God is allowing them to torture me and I would just rebuke them. I actually had to go through deliverance as they had a stronghold of my mind and my pastor and I went though a repentence and prayer where he cast out many demons out of me.

That actually helps a lot! Thank you. It is really hard to get some of those old ideas out of your head. I mean Gnosticism, afterall, was developed especially for destroying traditional Christianity. It is good to know that there are others out there who have struggled with it also, and that were eventually able to overcome it.
