i live in Canada and recently converted to Christianity from Islam. I said Sinners Prayer and I was told by Evangelist that my journey has begun as a Christian. But I am not sure which denomination is better.

Well, what denomination was the evangelist?

"Evangelical" usually refers to a general category of churches that emphasize the Bible's authority and spreading the faith. It's not normally the name of a denomination or a specific church body.I'm not sure they are part of Evangelical Denomination of Canada
Nice to hear your history BenAbbe, and I wish you well until we meet one day. Finding a good church is not hard work, most are good. Make sure to take time with Jesus, and he will keep you. Blessings
No, unfortunately I live in Europe, but the canadian mentality is much like here in Denmark, cool relaxed people. BlessingsWhere are you from Peter. Are you from Calgary Canada.
Thank you everyone for your input.
There is no "better", as the church's ONE foundaition/is Jesus, Christ, Her Lord! (The Church’s One Foundation/Marching to Zion/I Love Thy Kingdom, Lord | FBC Radio). Every true Christian belongs to that church. However, some local churches can be "worse", as they don't put the focus on Christ and his Salvation as told in the Bible, but instead focuses on everything and nothing NOT told in the Bible - so be avare of The Acts 17,11: "These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so." Is the Bible the local churchs guide star, or do it have some other guide starts as well, making the Bilbe less important? Also remember The Acts 2,42: "And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers." How much attentinon does the local church put this?`... But I am not sure which denomination is better.
Most likely, a lot of people answering you will say that their own denomination is the one for you. But you should probably make a careful, not hasty, decision about this. Get a book from the library that compares churches--a directory. There are many such. Read a little of church history. Get the basic overview. Then we'd be able to help you better, and I do mean that we could advise you more accurately, in accord with what you think you're leaning towards. If you live in a small city, you may be limited to the particular churches that you are able to get to. If that's the case, you could tell us now.
At this time, however, to ask us which one of ALL the Christian churches is the one for you, is quite a challenge. It seems as though you were brought to Christ by a Protestant, so perhaps you could focus on Protestant churches (Lutheran, Anglican, Presbyterian, Baptist, for example).

So that leaves out the "only a few churches to choose from" possibility.![]()
I had said something earlier about you finding the right church. I said that it's easier if the inquirer lives somewhere where there are only a few to choose from, but since you say you live in Calgary, that's not going to apply to you, is it?What do you mean by thisI didn't understand.
Unfortunately, that only makes it harder since we who don't live where you do have no way of knowing which church has the best preacher, friendliest people, and like that. We could advise on the basis of doctrine and worship style, but we have no way of knowing these other things about the churches in your community.I'm not very strict about where should I go. That's why I am seeking opinion.
Yes, I do understand. It looks like you might do well to ask friends and, even if you don't do that, visit a series of churches over the course of a few weeks and see if one doesn't look the best to you. I do agree that you would do best to avoid really small congregations and churches that don't belong to one of the historic denominations. Independent, unaffiliated congregations and churches that are affiliated with one of the smallest denominations could turn out to be great, but it's less likely.I need friendly environment. Accepting people. As I came to Canada as an Immigrant while back and I am also non-Caucasian so I am looking for a place to be call home. I have desire to integrate. It can be Catholic or any Protestant.

Cool, welcome! I'm an ex-Muslim, too.
I came to Christ thanks to Evangelicals / Baptists, and am now, nine years later, seeking to follow Christ through the Catholic Church. She seems to be the oldest, and Her emphasis on mercy, humility, poverty, and acts of charity strike me as authentically Christian.
You will meet a great many sincere, prayerful, and lovely Protestants, and they are awesome people. But though I know that tonnes of Protestants are way better Christians than myself, Protestant ideas like Sola Fide and Sola Scriptura simply don't have a basis in history, or reality.
But I began my journey in Christ in a Baptist Church, and I'll always be thankful to them.
Gracia Singh thank you very much for your reply. I want to connect personally with you. If you don't mind that will be great help for me. I can learn many things as you are also ex-Muslim.
