• CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

1 Corinthians 5:1-8

Dear Father, who disciplines us for our own good,
Save your church from the sexual perversions that are taking place in our society. Let us show your love to sinners and show them how to receive forgiveness. But may we also say, as Jesus said, "Sin no more!"
Help us to exercise discipline, even to the removal of unrepentant members, delivering them over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh so that their spirits may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. Help us not to cover up sin and then boast about our tolerance! For a little yeast can ferment a whole lump of dough! Help us remove the leaven of sin, so that our churches may be like pure unleavened bread.
Since Christ, our passover lamb, has been sacrificed, let us celebrate the festival, not with the leaven of malice and evil, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. In the name of Jesus I ask for wisdom in matters of discipline and for the loving spirit of the Savior himself. Amen.

Dear Father, head of our one enduring spiritual family,
Thank you that you have not left us uninformed in matters of family relations. Thank you for the apostle Paul's instructions, which tell us to be holy in body and spirit and to give ourselves up to please you. Help me, Father, to do that.
May we be content in the situations in which you have placed us. May those of us with spouses live, in a sense, as if we had none. May those of us who mourn over lost loved ones, in a sense, not mourn at all. May those of us who rejoice, in a sense, not be so joyful. May those of us who buy and sell, in a sense, act as if we have no goods. May those of us who deal with the world, in a sense, act as if we have no dealings with the world at all.
What does it all mean? This world and the form of it are passing away, so free me from all anxiety! There is no answer apart from knowing that you are in control and will bring to pass your good pleasure. Grant us rest in you! In the name of Jesus I lift up this prayer to you. Amen.

Dear Father, righteous judge of all mankind,
Help me to live as one upon whom the end of the ages has come. Help me take what happened to the Israelites as a warning to myself. Don't let me get puffed up, thinking that I cannot fall. But at the same time let me keep in mind that no temptation has overtaken me that is not common to man. Help me remember that you are faithful and will not allow me to be tempted beyond my strength, but with every temptation will also provide the way for me to escape, that I may be able to endure it!
The way of escape may be death, as it was for Jesus. If so, may I be willing to die if that is what it takes to enter your eternal kingdom.
It is better that I should enter it with eyes or hands gone than to enter into hell with my whole body intact. Help me to obey you from a heart of love and gratefulness for what you have done for me. In the name of Jesus grant me such love for you that I will persevere in obedience until the very end. Amen.

Dear Lord,
You know all things. This prayer isn't to inform You of anything, just to include You in my daily thinking and seeking. Please continue to reveal things to us. Each of us, we haven't told Ky about the possible move or anything else. Let us know when it's time, not our time, but Your time. I pray for our meeting on May 5th and 6th and for the committees that are involved. Help us not to feel intimidation or overwhelmed but remind us that You see the bigger picture and that we can do ANYTHING through You. I love You Lord. Thank You for calling me out. Thank You for adding my name and thank You for loving me always. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Prayer to the Sacred Heart, by Saint Francis De Sales

May Thy Heart dwell always in our hearts!
May Thy Blood ever flow in the veins of our souls!
O sun of our hearts, Thou givest life to all things by the rays of Thy goodness!
I will not go until Thy Heart has strengthened me, O Lord Jesus!
May the Heart of Jesus be the King of my heart!
Blessed be God. Amen.

Dear Father, great, good and generous giver,
Thank you for making me part of the body of Christ, his church. Thank you that there are no unimportant parts to the body. Thank you that all of us are interconnected and interdependent.
We have a variety of gifts from you, but all have the same spirit.
We have varieties of service, but all have the same Lord, Jesus Christ.
We have various ways of working, but it is you, O God, who inspires all of it. Your spirit apportions your gifts as he wishes.
Thank you for every manifestation of your power and goodness. And thank you for every graciousness shown to me personally. In the name of Jesus, the head of the body, I pray. Amen.

Is Honesty an Absolute? By: Rodney K.Rattray

In the last issue we discovered what the Bible teaches about asking for and, getting counsel and advice as it applies to daily life. Asking for and listening to advice requires that we be honest with those around us and, our selves. So, here we'll examine God's perspective of this absolute standard.

All of us have to make daily decisions about whether or not to handle money honestly. Do we tell the cashier at the store when we receive too much change? Have you ever tried to sell something and been tempted not to tell the whole truth bacause you might have lost the sale?
These decisions are made more difficult because everyone around us seems to be acting dishonestly. Judges 17:6 says, "Every man did what was right in his own eyes." People today formulate their own standards of honesty, which change, depending on their circumstances. There are hundreds of verses in the Bible that communicate the Lord's desire for us to be completely honest. For instance, Proverb 20:23 reads, "The Lord loathesall cheating and dishonesty" (TLB). And Proverbs 12:22 states, "Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord." And in Proverbs 6:16-17 we read, "The Lord hates....a lying tongue."
Truthfulness is one of God's Characteristics. Bible verses like John 14:6 reatedly identify Him as the God of truth and He commands us to reflect His honest and holy character. In contrast to God's nature, John 8:44 descibes the devil's character as a murderer. The Lord wants us to become totally honest and conformed to His character rather than to the dishonest nature of the devilfor the following reasons.

We Cannot Practice Dishonesty and Love God
Two of the Ten Commandments address the issue of honesty. "You shall not steal. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbour" (Exodus 20:15-16). And Jesus told us "If you love Me, you will keep My Commandments" (John 14:15). We cannot disobey by practicing dishonesty and still love God.
When being dishonest, we are acting as if the living God doesn't even exist. We believe that God is not able to provide exactly what we need, even though He has promised to do so (Matthew 6:33). We decide to take things into our own hands and do it our own dishonest way. We are also acting as if God is incapable of discovering our dishonesty and is powerless to discipline us. If we really believe God will discipline us, then we will not consider acting dishonestly.
Honest behaviour is an issue of faith. Every honest decision strengthens our faith in God and helps us grow into a closer relationship with Christ. It is impossinle to love God with all our hearts, souls and minds if, at the same time, we are dishonest and act as if He does not exist.

We Cannot Practice Dishonesty and Love Our Neighbour
Romans 13:9-10 reads, "If you love you neighbour as much as you love yourself, you will not want to harm or cheat him, or kill him or steal from him....Love does no wrong to anyone" (TLB). When we act dishonestly, we are stealing for another person. We may deceive ourselves into thinking it is a business, the government, or an insurance company that is suffering loss, but really it is the business owners, fellow taxpayers, or policyholders from whom we are stealing. It is justas if we had taken the money from their wallets. Dishonesty always injures people. The victim is always a person.

Credibility for Evangelism
Our Lord requires honesty to enable us to demonstrate the reality of Jesus Christ to those who do not yet know Him. Our actions speak louder than our words. How many of us have heard "Well, I know a man who always goes to church and talks a lot about Jesus, but watch out if you ever get in a business deal with him! He'd cheat his own grandmother! If that's what it means to be a Christian, I don't want any part of it!"
We can influence people for Jesus Christ by handling our money honestly. We can do this when we "Prove yourselves to be blameless and innocent, children of God above reproach in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you appear as lights in the world" (Philippians 2:15).

Confirms God's Direction
Proverbs 4:24-26 reads, "Put away from you a deceiful mouth, and put devious speech far from you. Let your eyes look directly ahead and let your gaze be fixed straight in front of you. Watch the path of your feet and all your ways will be established." What a tremendous principle. As you are completely honest, "all your ways will be established."
Choosing to wlk the narrow path of honesty eliminates the many possible avenues of dishonesty. Decision-making becomes simpler because the honest path is a clear path.

Even Small Acts of Dishonesty Are Harmful
God requires us to be completely honest, because even the smallest act of dishonesty is sin. And even the smallest sin interrupts our fellowship with the Lord and retards our maturity in Christ. The smallest "white lie" will harden our hearts, making our consciences increasingly insensitive to sin and deafen our ears to the still small voice of the Lord. This single cancer cell of small dishonesty multiplies and spreads to greater dishonesty. "Whoever is didhonest with very little, will also be dishonest with much" (Luke 16:10, NIV).
Just as Abraham, in Genesis 14:22-23 was unwilling to take so much as a thread or a sandal thong, consider making you own similar commitment in this area of honesty. Covenant not to steal a stamp or photocopy or a paper clip or a long distance telephone call or a penny from your employer, the government or anyone else. The people of God must be honest in even the smallest matters.

:amen: :groupray:  :groupray:
