Correct me if I am wrong Wileycoyote but I think Assembly of God Teaches that as well.
No they don't. They certainly believe in glossolalia, or speaking in tongues, but they don't believe one MUST speak in tongues in order to be saved. I belong to an AOG church and they have never taught such heresy.

No I do not believe that one MUST speak in tongues to be saved.

I was a Christian for at least 50 years before I knew anything about speaking in tongues.

There are two kinds of tongues - one is a prayer language between you and God and requires no interpretation. the other is a Word for the church and requires interpretation.

Do you believe one MUST speak in tongues in order to be saved?

Or is it a gift of the spirit which some receive?

NOPE!

You are saved by your faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. Salvation is a GIFT from our Lord Jesus Christ, not a Spiritual Gift.

A Spiritual Gift is what you desire, some receive it and some dont. Those who don't desire it, normally don't receive it.

So, the answer to your question that you must speak the Spiritual Gift of speaking in tongues is FALSE, just another Pharasitical church doctrine added to His Word!

Blessings!:)

I think tongues are a gift of the spirit and there should be interpretation to keep matters orderly.

No they teach that tongues is the witness of the filling of The Holy Spirit.

8. The Initial Physical Evidence of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit

The baptism of believers in the Holy Spirit is witnessed by the initial physical sign of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit of God gives them utterance.
The speaking in tongues in this instance is the same in essence as the gift of tongues, but is different in purpose and use.

It is NOT soteriological . . . BUT all CAN speak in tongues . . . though not all WILL.

You do not have to speak, but it is after all inevitable.
Jesus said we speak in new tongues.
I say great!

Every time you groan or cry out of your spirit a prayer that cannot be spoken in articulate language, you are speaking in new tongues.

We all do it.

Three? Talking in the language of people you are addressing when you don't know it (penteocost)? Or do you call that something else?

Thank-you Renee, so it looks like #8 according to AoG tongues are necessary.
