  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I know some women in their first trimester have no appetite.... but for the women who do and have noticed a huge increase in appepite like myself.... What have you found are the most effective ways of controlling it?

This is a big issue/stressor for me right now. I gain weight when I get pregnant. I was already trying to lose all the excess weight I gained with my last pregnancy- my baby is 9 months old now... and here I am pregnant again and sometimes all i can think about is food. It's almost uncontrollable. It's hard to be motivated not to over eat right now... especially when at times i already feel discouraged and like a failure. I've been praying a lot about this and continually trying to get on back... but it is hard.

Any suggestions?

I agree~ if you're hungry, you probably Need the food. Just make sure to eat LOTS of protein throughout the day (cheese stick, yogurt, spoon of peanut butter, etc.) as well as regular meals. Drink lots of water. Don't stuff yourself silly, but at the same time, if you're hungry you need to eat.

Some women naturally put on more pregnancy weight than others do~ and that's Ok! A friend of mine has had 6 kids, and she's normally pretty thin. She gained 50 lbs with EACH pregnancy, lost some of it after the birth of each one, then still carried the rest of the weight until her babies weaned (about 18 mos). Then she'd just melt again. I know another girl who didn't (with all 4 of hers) put on Any weight at all until she was about 6 months pregnant, then she'd gain about 20 lbs total with each one. We're all so different! :)

Interestingly it's protein that I crave... in the mornings I crave sausage.... throughout the day I want meat.... sometimes cheese...

This morning I had a couple of eggs over easy and they were so good I barely kept off the temptation to have a couple more.

I wish I could be content with being overweight... life would be so much easier I think.

thanks

I know this sounds weird, but every guy I've ever known (no matter how picky) has said that "there's just something about a pregnant woman...that big ole round belly mmmmm, mmmmm. It's true. Don't worry about the weight now, there's plenty of time to lose it later!

lol I agree my hubby says he's never seen me sexier. And I mostly have chubby on my belly now, not really any baby bump :D

I have eaten a heap since getting pregnant. I've mostly craved fresh fruits and veggies (mainly apples and oranges). But I've still have the lollies, chocolate and chips  and funnily enough, I am so not into meat at all right now.

I don't bother to control it because I just *can't*.

So I eat whenever I feel the need to - I guess I figure that if my body is *that* hungry then the baby needs more food. I'll lose the weight again afterwards...

That's interesting, I crave sausage too and haven't eaten it in 10 years, but the only thing that will satisfy my hunger in the mornings is a sausage biscuit from McDonald's.
Do you have hyprtension when your pregnant? I just found out from a nutritionist that high blood pressure can make you gain a lot more weight during pregnancy as that has been the case with me. With my first two pregnancies, which were singletons, I gained 52 lbs, each. I lost most of it with my first, but I got pregnant when my son was 18 months and had gained about 10 lbs when I had a miscarriage, then got pregnant with my daughter two weeks later and gained another 52 lbs, never got that off b/c I got preggo with my twins 14 mos later and gained 84 lbs. I lost almost all of it from nursing for 71/2 mos, but then my milk disapeared and I gained it all back. I didn't lose anything and now I'm pregnant again. I've been trying to control what I eat, but nothing satisfies my baby, so I just eat whatever
