  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

My boyfriend's mother made a statement over Sunday lunch yesterday:

'When you two get married, it will be more difficult to sort out contentions between you'

... what do other couples - married or intended - think? We've found we're pretty good at solving differences, and don't feel it will be a problem once we're married.

Early on in our marraige my wife and I had problems with compromising. But we were both still very young and inexperienced. We were terrible at reading the other and anticipating their next move.

Being that you are a good 6 years older than we were, and you and your boyfirend have a pretty good relationship, I wouldn't worry about it.

As far as marraige advice, I've learned that one shoudl nevr listen to negative advice or negative pieces of wisdom from married people.

If they speak negatively of aspects of, or marraige in general, they obviously aren't very good at being married.

And the most important and prominent thing that being married and being in the military has taught me is that NOTHING is ever as bad as others say it will be, period.

How long have you known him? How long have you been dating? How long have you been serious about each other to consider marriage? If it's only bee a few months, you haven't had enough time to know how well you'd sort out major issues. As time goes on, you'll see how you respect each other in problem solving. I've heard of couples that have NEVER had an argument and have been happy with each other always. That's the kind of marriage I'd like!
