I bought a 500sq/ft roll of heavy duty aluminum foils @ Sam’s for about $18 in 2019, I got about 100 left, it hovers around $33 now.
WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—Donald J. Trump’s tariff on imported aluminum would result in a major price increase for Marjorie Taylor’s hat, the Georgia congresswoman said on Tuesday.

“When I learned that President Trump was slapping a tariff on aluminum, I felt betrayed,” Greene told reporters. “Like millions of his supporters, I depend on aluminum headgear for protection from cosmic mind-control lasers.”

What I love about the statement of "It's going to get worse before it get's better" is that the sentiment makes a worsening of the situation in itself evidence of the future improvement. It's the ultimate hedging of bets. If things improve, every one is happy. If things get worse, that means the prediction is correct, so hope for future improvement is affirmed. If things stay the same, well, at least they didn't get worse!

The statement is especially effective when given no real time frame. It's never stated how worse things will get, when they will start to improve or how that improvement will shape out. Just like a patient suffering from a disease and being treated with sugar pills, people are told to just sit tight and to ignore the rising (economic) pain. After all, things are getting worse as predicted, aren't they?

I don't mind quoting the other side, nor am I denying the fact that prices have not come down. Trump has only been in office three weeks. Somehow you must think this is going to happen overnight.

However, the polls show that the major of people think that Trump IS keeping his promises.

BTW-I notice a number of sites often will have "How many promises has Trump broken?". Considering Trump has only been in office not even a month and he doesn't have his cabinet in place yet, it simply illustrates how BIAS polls are. So the CBS poll is probably a poor reflection of what is given. Besides, if Trump started mass producting chi
It is Trump that said prices would come down immediately and gas down 50% in year.
=====================

I agree that we should wait before making judgements on food prices and on gas prices.

I agree that we should wait and see with regard to the effect of any tariffs and especially note if we have an increase in steelworker jobs (it didn't happen last time).

We should be focusing after in a year and a half, when we are electing senators and congressfolk.

Let's watch each month and make the 2026 election a referendum on the keeping of those promises.

...so we re-engage in February, 2026?

1) Does inflation go down each month compared to a year ago?
President Trump, while campaigning vowed to end the "inflation nightmare," signaled his focus on the high cost of living in the U.S. by signing an executive order that requires "all executive departments and agencies to deliver emergency price relief" to Americans. This executive order aims to address the high cost of living by reducing prices for housing, healthcare, food, and fuel1. The order emphasizes the need to restore purchasing power to American families and improve their quality of life.

It's a significant move that highlights the administration's commitment to tackling inflation and easing the financial burden on households

It's a signature on a piece of paper. Government agencies don't set prices, and people don't buy their groceries from the government.

What actions have these agencies taken to reduce prices?

Yep, that is all it takes. He did what he said he would do on day one. You need to buy one of those secret coder rings so you can understand what people are saying.

We engage now on lots of fronts.

In February 2026, we engage on changes in prices and gas costs.
The next election isn’t until November 2026, so in February, it’d be “campaign (on)” rather than “engage”…but yeah.

And the tariffs and those follow on retaliations haven't hit yet. MAGA complained about the price of groceries under Biden, which were brought down, to turn around to vote for someone whose policies would raise prices. Go figure.
Shortly paying more will be praised.

Maybe Trump will send out stimulus checks so people can afford to hold Easter egg hunts?

This is my Easter egg.

Trump will be forced to send farmers money AGAIN if there are tariffs and if USAID doesn't buy their surpluses to provide to the starving throughout the world.

In the meanwhile, food already bought by USAID can no longer be distributed, so it will just rot. Yay efficiency!

Well, i guess letting it rot is cheaper than shipping it out the the starving people. Yay efficiency!

Lots of people will distribute food for free. You do not have to pay people to do that. That is wonderful if you have surplus food to give to people. But the Bible says to let them collect it for themselves. The Bible does not say to hire people to gather the food and give it to those in need.
