  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

John Constantine is a gruff, chain smoking, excersist who has the ability to see the demons and angels hidden on earth. Why are they there? Because god and satan have made a wager, a war to put it exactly, for control of the human race (from what I hear). No direct contact, just influence. John fights against these demons to gain salvation as fate as pit him to die young and go to hell.

A police officer hears about Mr. Constantine and wants to see what he sees. Will she regret it? Will having another like him help the cause

Yeah, its true. The whole spiritual war themes are interesting to me. I believe that this war is happening around us right now, it is more real than we think. I think I will see it to kind of visualize this war and compare it to the bible. I desire to make a movie on spiritual warfare, but that is later in life.

I just saw the film and I thought it was interesting. It wasn't %100 accurate to real life or anything but there was truth to it. The main ideas that were portrayed was the thing that pleased me. I recomend it to anyone that desires to see the realness of hell. It makes you think about life, and what you do with it.

That could be because it's based on a comic book? Sheesh. Ya'll always trying to find something spiritual about movies that aren't really about any real spiritual things...

There are spiritual things in the movie, actually everything about the movie is spiritual. Demons and angels are spirits too, and the switching from earth to a spiritual plane, hell. True, there are a lot of hollywood moments, but the underlining theme was to avoid hell and repent (and you can't earn your way into heaven).

I think that this movie could be a witnessing tool. I can see a lightbulb go off when they are told that the war in the movie actually exists and the need of repentance. I think all God fearing people who know how the spiritual realm works should check it out.

I must agree with TerraSin here. Movies arn't ment for spiritual gain, they're for entertainment. Even Passion of the Christ was all about profit. Given I'm sure Mel Gibson wanted to get a message across, but if it was solely for spiritual gain, he would have sent all the profits to charities or not accepted the money at all. Hollywood is about money, not souls.

It really makes me mad, that these stupid critics look down on this movie cuz they can't see past that it originated from a comic book and that they compare it to the Matrix... In my opinion this movie surpassed the Matrix and was a hell of alot better, excuse the pun and the curse, LOL!! It had alot of correct theology and some that were incorrect, but like people say, it's just a movie... Did anyone stay past the credits, because it had a scene at the end and I forgot that it was supposed to be for that movie??? What happened??

I went and saw this movie last night. I loved it. I don't agree with everything 100% becuase it was portrayed a little differently than what I would have liked it too but still and awesome movie. And yes this could be used as a witnessing tool. As far as what I consider the truth as far as my beliefs , it wouldn't make a great teaching tool but as far as what Hell is like then yeah it'll definatly make a person think twice about where they are going when they die. I just love it!

The movie sure has spawned some interesting conversations. I had a catholic friend tell me today that he agreed with the idea of the movie that a man should earn his salvation, even if he has repented. That is what I'm worried about with this movie, that people who only have a limited idea about Christianity will come away with the completely wrong idea about the faith.

(*not a knock against catholics, mind you. This particular one just happens to be more uninformed than what is healthy for his soul.*)

It's a mooovvviiieee, made for entertainment purposes. Of course it's not going to be 100% spiritually correct. Sheesh, some people are just too stuborn to look outside the box...

CJ

Did'nt you already post something similar back one page already??? I think people have gotten your point and you need to move on and contribute something to the post...

To be fair, you have no idea how much money Gibson did or did not give away, because he keeps his charitable donations private, as Jesus instructed us to do.
