This is what I hate about titles like this. Instead of saying just conservatives, you could have just said California Republicans. Not all conservatives are Republicans, therefore, your misleading with your title.

Two comments:

1) Those conservatives has no sense of ethics or morals, but a bigoted prejudice against homosexuals, and I do not believe Governor Terminator (sorry, can't spell his last name) should endorse their bigotry.

2) This is obviously a empty threat. So they'll withdraw their support, but who else are they going to support? A California Democrat? Not likely. At best, a new conservative can be a candidate in the next gubernatorial campaign, but if its a candidate so far to the right that he feels he shouldn't even hire homosexuals, then theres no chance he'll win.

I think the issue isn't so much that she's gay so much as she is pro-gay, openly supporting various things that various Republicans think their party should be opposed to. So it's about all kinds of bigotry really, and the extremer partisan nature of U.S politics.

Not really, no. If her political leanings are not the same as his, being a politician and her working for a politician, he should have never hired her. If I'm running for an office, and I'm pro-choice and anti-gay hate, I'm not going to have someone on my staff who is antichoice and pro gay hate. That just makes no sense.

If she is doing her job, performing her duties IAW her job description, receiving satisfactory work evaluations, etc, then what is the problem? If the only gripe is who she sleeps with, nothing work related, its no one's business. Plus, I wonder how many of the complainers are without blame in their personal and private life?.

indeed they do - but that is not based on scripture I would not knowingly hire a liar, a thief, a murder, an adulterer, etc.... I consider the active participation in the homosexual lifestyle no more or less than these....

I don't understand what ethics have to do with lesbians? To be lesbian is personal choice which do not affect others.

If somebody is a murderer or a thief, they've broken the law. Homosexuality is not illegal.

Legally as an employer you can ask applicants if they have a criminal past. However, as an employer, you CANNOT ask your applicants if they're gay or not. That is illegal and considered "unfair employment practices." It is just as illegal for you to not hire somebody for being black as it is to not hire somebody for being gay. In fact, in our state, you can't ask any questions that would reveal answers that are part of the legally protected fair employment practices unless there's a specific reason that has to do with the employer being required to follow specific state guidelines so the employees have to have a specific standard. For example, you can't ask somebody's age, but if you're looking for somebody to fill a position that requires tending alcohol, then you can ask if they're over 21 and ask for proof.

Unfortunately for you, homosexuals are just like normal people and you can't tell who's gay just by looking at them, so there's no way for you to determine if somebody's gay or not. Even more unfortunately for you, if you don't hire a qualified person simply because they're gay, you're in deep legal trouble.

when hiring for a Christian Ministry whose beliefs hold that homosexuality is sin - the law can not force a Christian Ministry to hire someone whose lifestyle is in violation with their belief system.
