• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Thanks, Nadiine and GreenM. I left CF for about a month a couple of months ago after staff decided to pull one of their tricks on me, and I've slowly come back to post in UTD again, but I can't see putting out the energy to invest myself further given the circumstances.
I totally understand Dawn and I don't blame you.

There's nothing to say the same rubbish won't come along & happen again. I always keep my guards up and I look for areas to enjoy or discuss issues in & fellowship with a few lovely folks & play some games... not much more than that.

If it gets ugly w/ that whole liberal thing that went on back then again, I'll just do what I did before and head to the fundamentalist safe haven where it's less likely to happen.
This time there's a moderate forum already created; if it happens maybe people can go there where it's more comfortable for everyone.

I think safe havens are important to keep that way - it's only fair for the people trying to enjoy their CF time. (just my 5 cents)

(sorry about the staff issue too - I know your posts & your standards and I can imagine it was terrible for you sister).

 Which one is UTD? Ehh, you're right, lovely. I was gone for 8 months or so and only recently started dipping my toes in again. The thing is, CF does have some serious problems, and most of us are tired of the rollercoaster, so investing too much now feels like a lesson in masochism.

But it's just really, really nice to see you :) So for selfish reasons I hope you'll post here a little bit.

I hope it works out~
Can't see why not, Jimminy! Step by step, maybe :) Slowly slowly catchy monkey.

(not that I went as far as getting on staff... I'm not led there
and from the posts I read from former staff.... I'm not
in any hurry to try it out). :/

Ahh. Actually, one of the things that chased me away from this place was... k, remember when it all kicked off when an LDS member was joining Theology? And someone linked it at ~e~ and suddenly the place was over-run with people claiming our viewpoint was BAD, and people then voting one another in to staff positions to ensure us evil conservatives didn't get our way? :( Yeppers. That there was one of the final straws that broke le camel's wee bumpy back for me.

So if you've still got the tenacity to spend time in there, you're a much much braver woman than I am

LOL. Yeah, the "liberals" came in throwing around unfounded accusations (so much for being unbiased  ), pointing fingers, refusing to answer questions, raised a fuss for a few days and left. I guess that they thought that the couple of days they spent there would improve things, but it just made them worse.

There were three of these threads started. One here, one in the fundie forum, and one in the wiki discussion area. From what I understand it was a bit of an experiment, both to get actual feedback from us, and to see how things would unfold. As we could have predicted, the threads in our subforums have gone well, with helpful feedback and comments. But the one in the wiki discussion area was a total disaster, overrun by people pushing thier own agenda, and barely any actual "conservatives" even bothering to post there. The few that did bother were all but run over by the liberal posters who insisted on having the stronger voice. Staff did post something in response to this, and from what I understand, they have been reading our responses and taking note. But it sounds like the way CF is going now, they will solicit imput when and where needed, but will not be giving much feedback to us anymore in the same way. (Personally I have no opinion on this yet as I could see it being good or bad. Time will tell). Unfortunately the thread that contained the explanation has been moved somewhere that I don't have access too. Otherwise I'd just link it here.

Hmm... must admit, I don't really like the idea of it being so secretive. If only because it limits fellowship amongst us and the people in the upper echelons. It seems to foster a bit of a class divide, too, and that sort of runs counter to what I understand Christianity to be. Also, I sort of wonder whether the Blue As might not get a bit lonely :( Realistically, they can't just hang out with us as normal members now. I know it's a voluntary position, but being on staff does funny things, and it becomes vitally vitally important. Am with you, though, Desi. We'll just have to see how it plays out, really.

Just so you are aware, staff are reading these threads.

Thank you very much for replying. Remember - CF is nothing without it's members. You guys are CF.

S'cos it's been so incessantly up and down and rollercoastery, Jimminy. There hasn't been solid footing here since last July. Maybe even earlier, with the Pro-Life ribbon debacle. Most sucky. But if it all settles down again, people will start drifting back I reckon :) Will be so nice to see old friends again

I don't know what will happen. Alot of my friends are gone so it's a little lonely here sometimes.
Just in general there's always changes going on in policy or guidelines (rules) or SOF, or site direction... it's just continual and I think that's played a part & taken a toll on people.
I do like the updated site tho... still miss some stuff from the old site.
I had taken a screen shot right before the update and it was kinda sad when I saw it the other day.

We'll see what these new changes bring - just sitting back waiting. :)

I feel the same way. It's sad to see how few people are on CF. It's really upsetting - particularly since I have put so much effort towards this forum.

Hopefully it will turn around.

'lo, lovely :)

Am sorry you're lonely sometimes  I really do think people will start drifting back, though, gradually. Banning Steve was a mistake, because of all the background machinations, and I think that was the final straw for lots of bods. But once the place settles down, maybe they'll let him come back. Once they do that, it'll feel like things can start getting back to normal :D The thing is, if the forum glorifies God, He'll bless it and it'll grow again. It stopped being about Him for a long, long time, and how can anything flourish when it's not about Him?

As to the look of the place... yah, it seems much much smaller, right? Like, a little claustrophobic somehow? It just seemed roomier before for some reason

ETA: ((((((Molal)))))) God is good. All things work to His glory, ultimately, and this forum is no different

I agree Nadiine - I have seen you around alot on CF and I know all the hard work you have put into CF.

I think that everyone who has posted in this thread have a lot invested in CF. I really like being here and posting and spending time with friends. I consider everyone here my friend.

So Nadiine, considering the OP, what are your thoughts?
