• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have to be very honest any time there is a split in the forum the participation drops in the forums as this has happened several times. Might I suggest a thread for conservatives? Or one could also post in the conservative Christian forum.

Being a Confessional Lutheran I can sympathize with your concerns. I agree with Aroborvita that doing such does not stimulate activity and growth. Also in my experience, tensions are not reduced, just displaced. The polarization that would be the result will widen the rift between the two groups.

With Lutherans it is easy to define who is Confessional and who is liberal by denomination (synod), such definition would not be so easy within the Anglican Church. Then we must also be mindful that everyone's definition of who is conservative and who is not will not be clear cut; even if we could, you would also find theological differences within those who are conservative; as we have seen between WELS and LCMS/LCC. Even within the LCMS and LCC, there are tensions between us High Mass Lutherans and the Contemporary types; yet in reality we are in full fellowship.

I think that starting a thread for fellowship and discussion for traditional conservative Anglicans within STR would be a great idea. May I also suggest that since dialogue has begun between the ACNA and LCMS/LCC, that you could also post in fellowship within the conservative Lutheran Forum. Fellowship discussion would also be welcomed in the RCC forum, but remember no debate in either of these. Should you wish to have a debate thread with Lutherans or RCs; you could open one in Denomination-specific Theology., where you could specify who you would be welcome to respond in your original post.

I do disagree with Arbor regarding "conservative Christians", as this forum tends to be more reformed protestant, and less "catholic" that we are.

I hope these answers help.

I appreciate both replies. I guess we'll press on and try our best. Maybe a fellowship thread would be a good start.

Adam, when you get one going, if you could, either post a link here or send me a PM with the link, and I'll stop by and say hello!
