When a person is saved do you think that they are also saved from the consequences of their sins?

My question pertains mostly to someone who was saved out of a sinful lifestyle i.e. the alcoholic, the drug addict, the nicotine addict, the prostitute.... After they are saved is it still possible for them to suffer consequenses of their former lifestyles....lung cancer, chirosis of the liver, AIDS?

Just curious as to what your input would be.

God bless,
Roberta

It is like jumping off of a 3000 foot cliff with no parachute. On the way down, you confess Jesus as Lord, and believe that God raised him from the dead - you now are saved. But the consequence of jumping off of a 3000 foot cliff with no parachute still has its consequences, that will be coming up real quickly . <splat> :D

In some cases yes, God can heal sickness that has been brought on by sin. Aids people have been known to recover and be restored. Drug addicts have been given back their right mind again. But it takes real repentance and a change of attitude. Jesus said, sin no more, least something worse were to come upon you. Thanks, JohnR7

I heard a pastor preach on this one day. He called it a "good man's hell". He gave the example of himself....he was really into drugs, dealing, etc. before he came to the Lord. He got saved, got cleaned up, got called to preach, etc. But his brother is an addict. And the pastor is the one, prior to being saved, that introduced his brother to the drugs. The pastor has to live with the consequences of his sin every time he thinks of his brother.

Or, another example. If a woman has an abortion, then gets saved.....the Lord can heal her physically and emotionally, but the regret will most likely always be there.

God will sometimes heal the consequences of our sins...but most of the time, we live with the consequences of what our sin produced...at least thats my belly button opinion.

Blessings,
Tammy
