• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

No. But the bible regularly exhorts the use of alcohol ...
No, It doesn't.

The Bible calls it "wine."

I drink beer, but I don't know what beer tastes like.

Can you make sens...

Nevermind ... I just thought of making this into a challenge thread.

I drink Mountain Dew all time, yet I've never been drunk.

Can you explain that?

No, but I can explain why you have diabetes, heart disease and cognitive problems. Mountain dew is horrible for you. You're better off having a glass of wine (even Jesus got this one right).

What?

You lost me there, chief.

I thought I explained it well.

One thing I failed to mention about Pluto, is that it showed the willingness of people here to automatically accept Pluto's demotion without question; and exposes a low tolerance for those who want to hold out.

At times, I feel like I know how Galileo must have felt.

Other times, I feel like I know how Rosa Parks must have felt.

Well, I tried to PM you to make sure I have your beliefs down correctly before I posted it out in the open so I didn't make an ass of myself. But it appears I can't send you a PM for some reason?

Y U BLOCK ME AV? ;)

I have everyone blocked out.

Too many people asking to be on my Friends List. ;)

Well, in that case, due to my memory being pretty much crap, I will refrain from posting what I *think* I remember you saying about the planets, angels, and the number 9.

Does that jog any memory for you?

Yeah, it does, but then we contextualize the original Greek and Hebrew.

Well... a lot of us do. Others are fairly literalist to their own mental demise.

Ah ... that one!

Thank you for the reminder!

Let me see if I can hunt it up!

Thanks again! :)

I thought I remembered there being a really big significance in your theology about there being 9 planets, and now that there are only 8 is why you were so up at arms about the whole thing.

Here you are, sir:
In Bible numbers, 9 is the number of divine completeness.

Genesis 2:1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.

Ah. That was it.

Memory did not fail.

..this time.

So now you know: Neal Degrasse Tyson wanted to destroy Godly Perfection by knocking us back to 8 planets.

Tyson has done his evil overlord's bidding, and now he is famous and rich beyond dreams! And nothing can ever touch him!

Until he goes to meet God on his holy throne. Then! THEN Tyson will know that none can outrun the TRUTH OF GOD.

And in the new Millenium Pluto will be elevated to the 9th planet again! And all will be right with the heavens.

(And the other Oort Cloud things that are larger than Pluto will have to "take a hike")

Wait, is mountain dew wine to you?
Do you think it's fermented?
Jesus didn't turn water into mountain dew did he?

Um, how exactly did Dr. Tyson become *personally* responsible for that particular decision?

I'd have sworn it was a "consensus" thing. :)

Haven't you been following AV's points? This decision was rammed down the throats of all the god-fearing "good" Astronomers. And we all know who did the rammin'...

Oh sure, AV hasn't named names, but I am. Neal DeGrasse Tyson.
