We daily make choices to walk in the Spirit or the flesh..You decide how close you want to get to the Lord....Live it and He lives through you...
that's true, but no matter how many choices I make, or how close I want to be to Him, He still needs to give me the grace to actually get there. Because simply willing it isn't enough, it's God who makes it happen :) and the reason I think this consecration is through Mary, is because through her intercession we can receive more graces..I know that her prayers are more powerful than mine..

And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong

Here we go. Yet another Mary thread where non-Catholics accuse us of being idolaters and try to "remind" us that we need to focus on Jesus. Like we could forget or something.

Monica, you really should calm down on all of this. I know that you're getting really zealous and excited, but you're really rushing into things and sometimes I feel like you're getting in way over your head. Anhelyna is right. Focus on becoming Catholic first, if that is where God is calling you. Don't worry about all of the "extra" devotions until your faith is settled.

Mod Hat On:

All are welcomed to fellowship and ask questions and pray with us. :) We encourage non-Catholics not to debate our Catholic faith. It's okay though to share if your goal is to learn more about the Catholic faith and not to teach one's own faith in the OBOB.

Please read the FSGS for more guidance as to what the OBOB forum rules are.

God's peace

lol.. I used to think too that devotions to Mary take away from Christ, but I've learned it's the opposite :)

oh - I'm not really stressed out or anything :) I'm nervous about my conversion - that is my present "trial" if I could call it that. But I'm not nervous about any of this.

perhaps.. lol I can't figure out if you guys are right or not! haha.. because see, for me it's never been really 'extra'.. it was partly all these devotions that lead me into the Church. What keeps me going in my conversion is participation in the Catholic life, - as much as I'm able to participate - going to Mass, Adoration, praying, practicing various devotions.. apart from this, I just have faith that the Church IS true and that God DID lead me here. But I feel like if I just forget about devotions, my conversion would suffer as a result.. I don't know.. I need to think more about this. I am considering what you all are saying..

it would be even harder for me to become Catholic if I forget what it was that drew me to the Church to begin with.. and before I knew about any doctrines or the history, I just had Adoration and some Catholic devotions..

You are rushing into things :( Please slow down and become a Communicant in the Catholic Church before you try and catch up with everything .

This Consecration to Jesus through Mary is not something to be undertaken lightly . Many people do not understand that it is giving yourself totally to Jesus - try looking at the definition of slave - it's very very deep .

What she said.
