  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Congrats to Orbital Sciences!

Impressive. Although they need to also work on cleaning up all of the space junk drifting around up there.

:)

Sure, blame *them* for all that junk in space. :)

You're absolutely right however about the fact that junk is orbit is starting to become a serious problem.

There is also a thin film of human faeces on most satellites, because astronauts have been ejecting their waste for decades.

Still, more great work from NASA, as always

With all that stuff flying around, it's a wonder that the 'Gravity' scenario doesn't happen more often that it does. It can't be 'safe' for humans in space to have that many unnecessary objects orbiting our planet. It's like a game of Russian Roulette just getting something through that junk and up into orbit.

Considering the further out satellites orbit the further apart they are to each other. This is due to the area increase. It may look like it is cluttered but it is not. If all the satellites were positioned on the surface of the earth then they would be kilometres apart. Now imagine an earth with the diameter twice that of earth's.
