  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm afraid I'm not well versed in Quantum Physics. Still, who knows? I say stay strong, quantum physics is still mostly hypothosis yes? Wait for concrete information on the subject to doubt, though their is a difference between doubt and thought though. Don't just filter out the possibility.

My two cents.

It is quite a bit more than "hypothesis."

Well, yes. Hypothosis was far to weak of a term, I meant to say something more along the lines of it hasn't been proven yet. (the first post) This isn't to mean it's not true, as apparently we can't prove God either. It hasn't been proven right?

Hey all, I have returned, but probably only briefly.

Quantum Mechanics says nothing about telepathy, telekinesis or any other scifish abilities. People use QT to justify all kinds of far fetched things, basically most of the arguments go along these lines: Lots of weird and unknown things are happening in QT, no one is really certain what is going on, so my belief X could be explained by QT and you can’t offer any evidence it isn’t so let’s believe it is. This commits two huge fallacies: an inappropriate shift of the burden of evidence and Ad ignorantiam (Appeal to ignorance).

I would suggest checking out some more "objective" sources. For example, PBS's "NOVA" did a great introduction to Quantum Physics--it's called the "Elegant Universe" and you can actually watch the whole thing on NOVA's website.
More objective sources sound like the key to help you understand QT and while it isn't against the bible or anyhting. But, I disliked NOVA’s publication, You should read the book before watching NOVA's special. The book is watered down enough to the point of where almost anyone can follow it, but the NOVA special goes a bit too far and doesn’t really say much of anything at all.

The bits about telepathy and telekinesis are not necessarily a part of quantum physics--possible extrapolations, perhaps, but not central to the scientific theory. As a theory, however, quantum physics is an established theory that has been used successfully for over 30 years now. As a theory, therefore, it is quite sound (what some might call "proof").

Just because God put any laws into place does not mean that we were meant to use/exploit these powers. God put natural poisons on this Earth, but I would doubt they are for casual use. Not the best analogy perhaps, but I hope you see where I am going.

I personally think that there is much to the spirit realm that we obviously do not see. I think there are powers (prayer, fasting, righteous living) that bring us power that we can not understand. Conversely, there are other powers we can tap into…at a cost.

I am not convinced that chi (eastern theology) is complete bunk. I think that there are energies and powers that science cannot measure. It is pure arrogance to assume that something does not exist just because we cannot measure it.

1 Corinthians 1:
25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. 26 For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called. 27 But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; 28 and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, 29 that no flesh should glory in His presence. 30 But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God--and righteousness and sanctification and redemption-- 31 that, as it is written, "He who glories, let him glory in the Lord." F3

Point being, as much as we think we know, we are incapable of any real knowledge apart from God. We think we know, but we just don’t know, and we never will. (Happy Gilmore? paraphrase)
