• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

This is the title of the Announcement:

Forum Specific Rules will no longer be used!

http://foru.ms/a791

This is the content of a paragraph in that Announcement:

However, each forum is allowed to take the FSR’s that they have in place and develop them to become guidelines for that forum.

This means that a member will not necessarily receive an infraction (infraction system is still being discussed I believe) for violating a guideline, but may be asked to have the post deleted, edited, or moved to a different and more appropriate forum. Staff will be moderating based on the set of General Rules that the site will have.

I am asking that CCC members read everything very carefully and be certain that what we understand means everything that LeeD states.

The bolded part above seems to not match the title.

The underlined above seems to absolutely handle every report result in members FIRST being ASKED to edit, delete, or agree to have their post moved to a more suitable thread on CF.

Does anyone else have some comments about this?

This is in cases where the post is not a rule violation, but merely "off-topic" or "debating without being a member of that congregation" or the like.

As to forum rule violations (flaming, harrassment, etc.) a version of the infraction system is coming back into play but is not finalized.

Let's say for example Poster A starts a thread in non-denom discussing why Mohammed is a prophet.

As a moderator my options are to:

a.)delete

b.)edit

c.)move to non-christian religion

*now, there are exceptions that have to be looked at, like is this person causing problems, is this a christian or a muslim or is this person honestly sharing his views, unknowing that this is a rule violation.

-and what if the person made a rather large post that appears may have taken alot of work, isn't it the christian thing to offer to have it moved to a more fitting forum rather than delete it right away?

This is in the context that the poster is not a troll, just maybe new to the forum.

I would rather move it, than cause grief.

I don't think there's anything to be worried about at this point. I do agree that it should've perhaps been worded better and I will make this suggestion to AngelDove & MNPhysicist.

I have also seen discussion that Congregational Forums will still be able to keep their non-member/member type status for posting guidelines.

I think this is stemming from the Infraction system that is being put into place. As was mentioned there are other options open to a mod -- like moving posts, etc... This is what the guidelines are for in the specific forums -- i.e. a non-member's post wouldn't necessarily be a rule violation, but would still be actioned -- as in moved to the appropriate forum.
