  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I know it says in the Bible that there will be no need for marriage in Heaven but I'm still kind of confused. Will we still be able to be with the person that we were married to. If we want. And do the things that we use to do with them. You know kiss, hold hands, etc.? I know it might seem weird to others but I would just like to know because it's been on my mind.

Thanks for any help.

I think we will be able to be in fellowship with everyone in heaven. We won't have to worry about spending time with people, because we'll be there forever, with no need to prioritize our time. As far as kissing/holding hands, etc., I'm not sure, but heaven is going to be so unimaginably incredible. What gives me piece is realizing that my concerns about if I'll be able to do this or have that in heaven are going to seem rediculous when I get there, even more so than if I had a whole triple layer chocolate cake in front of me, and I was thinking, "oh, if I could just have one mini m&m instead of all of this." (I hope you like chocolate cake, or else this analogy isn't going to work) :yum:

In the particular passage in the bible you're talking about, Jesus is asked who's wife a woman will be (her first husband, 2nd husband or 3rs husband's). In those days women (wives) where seen as property, the "belonged" to their husband's or fathers. I think Jesus is saying that in the kingdom of Heaven no one "belongs" to anyone else. That everyone is free. I don't think he is saying that people who love each other will be separated. Call me a romantic, but I believe love is eternal :)

If everyone is free, then they won't be married. Therefore they will be "separated." We will all be together and happy in Heaven, but there won't be husbands, wives, sex, or any of that in Heaven. It will all be obsolete, and none of that will be missed because the human race will be upgraded. Since there is no pain or suffering in Heaven, I'm sure we will all be very happy with whatever arrangement God has for us up there.

When we go to heaven God said he would give us new bodies. God has prepared us for the purpose of being clothed with our heavenly body. 2 Cor 5:4-5 When we receive the new body I believe we will be changed, and no longer desire things we once desired on earth such as sex, husbands and wifes.

We will be changed instantaneously when we are raised. 1 Cor 15:51-53
