Hi! Just a little confused on the how long man & world have been here. Does Gods word say how many years we've been here? Thanks for any help on this question!! :o

The earth has been around for at least 4 billion years, and the universe for about 3-4 times that.

How long has man been here? Depending on who you ask and how they interpete the evidence science provides you will get a wide variaty of answer from very long, to not so long. Hence the exsistance of this forum on origins and all the different views. If you are confussed do not fret, Pray for guidence and Godly individuals to come into your life. You rarely get that here. Read Gods word and meditate on it. If you have been born again ask the Holy Spirit to convict you in the questions that confuse you.
The Bible states in
Phil 4:6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus (NASB)

The Bible itself never gives any dates at all. There are a few who claimed by adding up the dates of the generations mentioned in the Bible (and making up for those that didn't have them mentioned) you would get about 6,000 years. But when we date the rocks that make up the earth it seems that it is between 4 and 5 billion years. Mankind have only been around in modern form for the last 100,000 years or so (I don't have the exact age of the oldest human skeleton found.)

Those are pretty speculative dating systems too. And they base themselves on the literal ages of the people there.

There is, in no way possible, for a human to live beyond say 130 today. The oldest ever almost made it to his 121st birthday, and he was blind, deaf, and I think mute as well by the end. And the reason why life expectancy is so good today is through modern medicine.

Folks back in Jesus' day, on average, would have gone in their 50's or 60's if in a more "civilized" area and probably 40's elsewhere.

Those numbers merely show the decline of human-God relations due to original sin, nothing more.
