I am not sure. It depends on whether you want to publish it or not. I am sure that you could write simple stories just for fun or just find like minded people here that you may want to share things with privately. I am not sure about the legal issues but I am pretty sure if you have posted it with your name on it that means it is copy writed by you. I think it would be a bit like blogging. You can't copy from another persons blog, I think...

If the forum managers cannot change the date of a post, then it would prove when it was posted. Thus being a type of copyright.

btw its copy-right, as the persons "right" to ownership, not the persons "writing". (I admit, I had to check.)

But I would not post anything I considered valuble, or even remotely might publish.
I write some prose on Deviantart.com, and they have a copyright warning.
Some friends say I should publish the prose, I think I have over twenty, but I don't know if I could publish since anyone that wanted to read them could find them there.

But putting items into public viewing, gives you unbias critique. Which can help you to improve.

We cannot edit the date of a post :)

Additionally, we do have a copyright rule:

Legalities
Do not promote illegal activity, violate the copyright of others, or promote another's work as your own.

When I think there's a copyright concern, I will copy/paste the first sentence into a google search and see where it pops up - even if its old. That said, people do copy work all the time on the internet - its up to the writer to catch it and then prove where its originally published first by them and then take action. As they say, once its on the internet it never truly goes away.

Ok.
Thanks for the correction. I was unaware that the forum did that.
And it is good to have confirmed that the dates can not be changed.
So if anyone posts something they can refer back to their post as to the date it was "published".
It(copyright) is pretty dominate in the art websight, as it is strictly art(all types)
and many people are looking for critique, not to have their ideas stolen.

But I would still not put to much of a story on the web, anywhere, if I even considered possiblity of professionally publishing it. (By the old means for profit, not by the posting on a websight for free.)
Why buy the cow, when you get the milk(even if its in raw form)for free.
