  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Confused about the commandment that was "abolished." (2)

I find it most interesting that such is issued to a select group of people know as Israelites. It seems to be implied it was given to the whle world.

Is this above bolded passage not what you are doing? It does seem that you are saying those disagreeing with you are not the saints of the Highest One.

No sir it does not. It only proves your position is opposed to the NC found recorded in the NT.

You mean the same select group that the New Covenant is made with? Almost EVERYTHING that was given to "Christians" was given through Israel...down to the Messiah!

Don't assume what I am doing....as I was simply quoting Scripture.
Scripture states that the Anti-Christ will try to make changes to God's Laws and His Holy days...does it not?

As well as how your position deems 2/3rd of the Word of God as un-applicable to you.

Quite interesting how...my position requires one to understand the "NT" in the light of the "OT" (as Yeshua and ALL of His followers did)

Your position on the other hand requires one to throw away the "OT" and cling to a "NT" interpretation that not only contradicts the "OT" but cannot stand when compared to the Law and the Prophets.

I love the narrating of the OP...

Lemme see ... folks said
  • You gotta keep sabbath
  • No we don't
  • Yes you do
  • No we don't 'cause the law covenant is old and over
  • Yes you do 'cause the ten commandments are written in stone
  • No we don't 'cause the ten commandments written in stone is the ministry of death!
  • Yes you do 'cause God wrote them with his own finger!
  • No we don't 'cause the bible says the old covenant is abrogated
  • Yes you do 'cause the ten commandments are eternal
  • No we don't 'cause the ten commandments are part of the law and can't be eternal
  • Yes you do 'cause we said so in all our previous posts
  • No we don't 'cause we're under grace not under the law
  • Yes you do 'cause you can't just go around sinning willy nilly
  • No we don't 'cause we're in a new covenant sealed in Jesus precious blood and besides we don't go around sinning willy nilly 'cause the Spirit leads us into all righteousness
  • Yes you do 'cause ....
  • No ...
  • Yes ...
  • No ...

I think you missed the part about the law being perfect, liberty, and love

Not to mention HOLY, Spiritual and the very Word of God.

I however totally understand their POV...I used to see that Law of God as a burdensome, heavy yoke that was just terrible and sooo hard to bear.

God has to open the eyes...He is the one that lifts the veil, in His time

I see, but since you're a man and so are your interlocutors (speaking generically) how can anybody ever know what it's crystal clear words mean if we're all doing the "man's usage of the sacred text" thing?

By allowing the Spirit to lead them. Sidenote - whenever I attribute confusion or uncertainty to man, I do so implying that the words spoken are devoid of the Spirit's power.

Your interlocutors have the Spirit of God, do they not, or is it just you that enjoys that privilege?

The law of Christ (1Co 9:21; Gal 6:2) which is love (Gal 5:6, 14; Jas 2:8; Ro 13:8-10), with no curse,

is not the law of Moses, which includes the Ten Commandments with a curse.

I would like to think so. Considering that the work of the Spirit takes time, one can't say that profession of error is evidence of the absence of the Spirit. What one can do however is determine if the teaching being espoused is or isn't from the Spirit by comparing it to what the scripture says.

There's a reason why I've been bringing up Isa 8:20 so often

Isaiah 8:19-20 Now if people say to you, 'Consult the ghosts and the familiar spirits that chirp and mutter; should not a people consult their gods, the dead on behalf of the living, (20) for teaching and for instruction?' surely, those who speak like this will have no dawn!

Round and round we go
