  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

With Lent coming up and a good deal of baptisms and confirmations coming up. I was just wondering what you remember about your confirmation. :priest: My boys won't be confirmed until May, but their doing prep classes right now. I attached a poll to just get a sense of who confirmed you and when. (I'm a poll junkie...I like collecting stats);) . I was confirmed last October by our parish priest. I was the only one getting confirmed so I was nervous standing up there, but it was really nice in the end. A sure way to get the parishoners to know who you are.

I was confirmed by a Bishop when I was 13 years old. We did a lot of preparation for it, but at the same time, I wish I had understood more fully what it was that was happening. Now, I appreciate it even more because my faith has grown infinitely within the past few years, but personally, I was too young to understand the full weight of that decision. Obviously the decision wouldn't be different if I had made a more conscious choice, but I wish I had just had the capacity to more fully understand what was going on. :)

The confirm at the age of 7 in our diocese. My youngest son is 7 and my oldest is 9. My oldest son is in a class of kids from 8-14 who haven't been confirmed yet. Often, they've moved here from areas that don't confirm at such a young age. We got a new bishop recently and he is likely to raise the age for confirmation either next year or the year after.

I was confirmed when I was in the 4th grade. I honestly don't remember...I presume it was the bishop...it was not our priest. My confirmation name was Margaret and my sponsor was my most favorite cousin, Cathleen. I think she was about 17 or 18 at the time.

Peace

I was confirmed at age 12 at Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima parish. My parents served as my sponsors. I remember that I had a red stole that had tongues of flame decorating one side of it and my confirmation name, Elizabeth (after Mother Seton) on the other side. All the students had these stoles. I thought that they were a nice idea.

We have a connection! I went to Cardinal Spellman HS..;) LOL

I almost went to Cardinal Spellman H.S., which in my area was one of the few coed Catholic high schools. Ended up going to an all girls Catholic HS.
(what was I thinking?!) ;)

Confirmed by a Bishop (can't remember his name) at 10 years old in the Bronx.
