  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

What happens if somebody has an embarrassing sin they are afraid to confess to a priest and, instead, confesses directly to God, then dies? Will they go to hell or does the direct confession to God prevent that?
Well there is intent but the pride sin stopping us from confessing .... so I don't know.
At death we fully know our sins and only the Lord knows them so we cannot state for fact the unknown.

It's also pride that humiliates us and we ought to be humbled.

Maybe extra time in purgatory?
Because we do not know the heart of the confession, but the pride has to be purged.

If it was mortal and they refused to confess it, then yes, they died with a mortal sin on their soul, meaning they go to hell.

Priests have heard it all before.

No one can shock a priest in the confessional.

Ok, well, I think all the priests at the church I’m going to are young. Maybe they haven’t heard this before?

Have no fear at all. Several years ago, I did a general confession of all my sins in my lifetime to a Benedictine priest. He essentially told me he wasn’t sure if I ever sinned mortally in my lifetime.

Trust in God and his abundant mercy.

He loves you!

Blessings!
