Ephesians 3:14 "For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,"

Some can't bow, and when I drive and pray I can't close my eyes, but I find the Bible teaches it is important to find the time to bow the knee unto the Father. It shows sincerity when we tell this lazy flesh to respect our creator.

Don't get me wrong it can be a sign of respect, but it's not a command to do so.

For John said, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:9)

John didn't say if we get on our knees and then confess our sins...

Word. Physical position is not a requirement for your prayers to be heard, but the position of your heart IS a requirement. God only listens to he humble (See Luke 18:9-14).

I don't disagree that the position of ones heart is very important.

Kneeling and praying is important and taught through example in the Bible many times.

Daniel 6:10 "Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime."

Luke 22:41 "And he was withdrawn from them about a stone's cast, and kneeled down, and prayed."

Acts 9:40 "But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning him to the body said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes: and when she saw Peter, she sat up."

Acts 20:36 "And when he had thus spoken, he kneeled down, and prayed with them all."

Acts 21:5 "And when we had accomplished those days, we departed and went our way; and they all brought us on our way, with wives and children, till we were out of the city: and we kneeled down on the shore, and prayed."

I believe we find one answer as to why kneeling is important in 2 Chronicles 7:14 "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."

We show emotions as humans. We cry when we are sad, in mourning, or something deeply touches us. We hang our head down sometimes. We jump up and rejoice when happy. And may I add that we kneel down before our God when we humble ourselves and our heart and call out to Him?

Many times in the Bible we see standing and prayer...

"If, when evil cometh upon us, as the sword, judgment, or pestilence, or famine, we stand before this house, and in thy presence, (for thy name is in this house,) and cry unto thee in our affliction, then thou wilt hear and help." (2 Chronicles 20:9)

"And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses." (Mark 11:25-26)

"And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner." (Luke 18:11)

"And she said, Oh my lord, as thy soul liveth, my lord, I am the woman that stood by thee here, praying unto the LORD." (1 Samuel 1:26)

Point is you don't have to get on your knees to pray. It's the heart that matters.

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:9)

I am not saying one MUST kneel. I am just saying I find it to be important. Your post above shows a scripture study I have never looked into. Standing and praying. Interesting. No matter what we must have our hearts fixed on Jesus. I appreciate seeing people kneel personally.

One could argue depending on the thing that is being prayed for it is better to bow, kneel, stand, or to lift/spread hands. But, still in the end it's the heart that counts.

The only command regarding prayer is that we pray. :p

God forgives you when you confess.

"For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins." (Matthew 6:14,15)

"Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ, God forgave you." (Ephesians 4:32)
