  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I was so happy when a 4ums member directed me to the CC forum. I found a forum where members treated each other with respect, where they obviously love the Lord and where great fellowship takes place. I was especially impressed because all of this took place across the boundaries of denominations/traditions.

Sadly, it appears that much of what made CC so attractive is starting to deteriorate. I'm not casting stones at any member, in fact I know my mother would refer to some of my posts as snotty at best and extremely rude at worse.

So, I'm asking for two things here.
1. Pray for the wellbeing of all brothers and sisters in CC - its a lot harder to be argumentative with someone when you're praying for them regularly.
2. Take a few seconds before hitting the submit button. Do our posts fall in line with Paul's admonition to the Colossians - Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.

I truly believe if we do these 2 simple things that CC will once again be a source of fellowship and inspiration instead of a forum where folks are dreading to visit.

Folks are welcome to post their support here, but this is not a debate thread (no he said - she said).

Where are you guys reading? I love to come here, because it IS a peaceful place.

And we all want to keep it that way - more than one member has expressed concerns regarding argumentative behavior and divisiveness

Hopefully we're putting that behind us

Amen as well. :amen:

I think it is important we always maintain our own focus here and work hard to keep the spirit of CC alive in all our posts.

Excellent admonition to pray for one another (James 5:16) and keep all our posts in line with Christ's teachings.

The "One Another" verses provide good guidance for situations such as these. Some of the more applicable ones would be:

Serve one another (Gal 5:13)
Forebear with one another (Eph 4:2, Col 3:13)
Be kind to one another (Eph 4:32)
Love one another (I Thes 4:9, I Jn 4:7, 11)
Encourage one another (I Thess 5:11, Heb 3:13)

and most pertinent (I think):
Speak to one another in Psalms and Hymns (Eph 5:19)
Point being - we must strive to focus to keep our threads and posts Gospel-oriented, Bible-oriented.

Let others come and try to work the enemy's schemes here - "I am not ashamed of the Gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes..." (Rom 1:16)

"In God, whose word I praise,
In God I have put my trust;
What can mere man do to me?" (Psalm 56:4)

Hey, "if God is for us, who is against us?" (Rom 8:31).

Practicing charity (love) is a toughie depending on someone's view from where they are sitting/experiencing. We can fake other people but we can't fake God. Romans 12:9 Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.

Colossians 3:12-13 Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.

Romans 15:1-7 We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves. Each of us should please his neighbor for his good, to build him up. For even Christ did not please himself but, as it is written: "The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me." For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God.

James 5:16................Confess to and Pray for one another
Colossians 3:13...........Forgive one another
Colossians 3:16.......... Counsel one another
Galatians 6:2..............Bear one another's burdens
Titus 1:13.................Rebuke one another (with love)
1 Thessalonians 4:18....Comfort one another
Hebrews 10:25...........Exhort one another
Romans 14:19............Edify one another
Romans 15:14............Counsel one another
Galatians 5:13............Love one another
Ephesians 4:12...........Love one another
1 Peter 1:22..............Love one another

Romans 12:9 Love must be sincere.

Romans 12:10 Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves.

Romans 13:8 Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law.

Romans 13:9 The commandments, "Do not commit adultery," "Do not murder," "Do not steal," "Do not covet," and whatever other commandment there may be, are summed up in this one rule: "Love your neighbor as yourself."

Romans 13:10 Love does no harm to its neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law

Ephesians 4:3 Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.

Amen dear friend

This confirms what I was thinking last night that Jesus needs to be the centre of all we seek to be and share here. The love and fellowship and encouragement we enjoy is because of God's great Love and Mercy towards us.

I agree with you,
Edie, regarding how this forum is and should remain. But I also am with Auntie in regard to being in the dark about where the poor behavior is being displayed.

It's one thing to say "do right" because we can all use the encouragement. But to say "stop doing wrong" needs some direction regarding what behavior is included. Maybe this is a case of "You would know if you were guilty." in which case feel free to tell me "never mind." The details above are just too vague for me.

I do thank you for your overall theme encouraging a supportive, encouraging, uplifting forum! :amen:

I see you've missed the excitement John! ;) Well, good. As Criada said...be glad. :p

If anyone comes and reads the OP and thinks to themselves..."Huuuu???". Please don't assume the worst in Edie. Just trust that there has been some serious issues going on and she's trying to encourage us all and instruct as well. :)
