  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I am finding for me that it is more relaxing to watch TV than it is to be on the computer.

To me it seams the computer puts me into a false "I am doing something" mode and I can not rest but yet if I watch TV I can set back and relax and be entertained.

Is this true for you or can you relax while on the computer?

I know exactly what u mean cuz for many years, i feel computer is not relaxing, n i avoid it. Later I appreciate computer internet gets u lots of things that TV is limited. Now i watch from pc a lot and added small good speakers. U can even connect computer to TV if it helps u relax, n get best of both. Now I try to strike a balance.

Yes, but I don't even have a tv. I Watch on the computer, it's more relaxing, but I can't watch so long.

I tend to do both at the same time, so I have no idea which does it for me. Although if I opt for my desktop computer over my laptop, it's pretty peaceful to sit in my office with the window open so I can hear the birds in my yard.

Just depends on what I'm doing.

Really, what determines my relaxation level is the chair I'm sitting in more than what monitor I happen to be looking at.

True...

Depends on what I am using it for and what time of day. If I'm watching a movie or TV shows I prefer TV so i can lay down and watch. But if it's getting late I switch to laptop so as not to bother the parentals. :) If I am looking to watch videos, tutorials, or do other work, I do it on my computer.

I think computer is fundamentally better because you can watch TV on comp, but not other way around.
Actually you can, since HDTVs are essentially glorified computer monitors (and the inverse; my monitor is like a stripped-down, small HDTV - it's just missing a channel tuner and an infrared input for a remote). As long as you can use HDMI*, it's do-able.

*HDMI is the easiest and most widespread these days, but some graphics cards did/do have older analog outputs (Composite, S-Video, or Component) and HDTVs will sometimes/often have D-Sub or DVI connectors. In school, some of our teachers had setups like this and were able to hook their standard CRT televisions up to their computers for class demonstrations. I assume via Composite or S-Video, considering the time period.
