  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Computer issues = spiritual attack?

Mockery is unnecessary. I'm not computer illiterate. I'm trying to explain that it's not JUST the power issues. There are a series of other coincidental issues that are happening that lead me to believe this isn't merely a driver issue.

So unless you simply don't believe in the spiritual realm, just keep your mockery to yourself. Very insulting.

Spiritual attacks can occur in any area of life. Some computer issues are caused by technology. Others by the demonic. Discernment is key. When it's too co-incidental to be a co-incidence. Take authority. Make a stand. Disrupting spirits will bow down.

It's not coincidental. The computer is following the laws of physics...we simply don't have those laws fully under control.

If that's the case, then why when I did exactly what VictorySHOUT suggested, did I no longer have computer issues? Never restarted. Never downloaded new drivers. Only prayed over it and then submerged myself in Gospel preaching and worship music. Interesting that my problem was resolved. Perhaps we CAN control those physics... with the power of prayer and the Holy Spirit.

Satan and his demons never merely pester you. They're always going for the kill.
I don't think this is true. Paul experienced a "thorn in the flesh" which he described as a messenger of Satan sent to torment him. (2 Cor 12:7)
Jesus said we would be given to the tormenters if we didn't forgive from our heart (Matt 18:34-35)

However, you are in error because you are disobeying God's word. He warns us to have nothing to do with the occult. Buddhism also is anti Christian.
I tend to agree with you. However, I don't think this was the issue. It was a relationship that had become physical. God made it abundantly clear to me in my conscience that I needed to end that. And when I told her we had to stop having sex and focus on God, everything changed. Her and I now discuss the bible, pray together, and listen to sermons. We have both turned to Him rather than our own physical passions. A cloud has been lifted!

You are presuming that Paul's "thorn in the flesh" was a demon.

I believe that his "thorn in the flesh" were the Judaizers who constantly tormented him, particularly since the single OT reference for "thorns in your flesh" refers to human tormentors, and they were the only thing Paul otherwise complained about in other letters.

Jesus meant that a person who did not forgive from the heart was going to hell, not just suffer computer glitches on earth.

Not true. If that was the case, everyone ends up in hell. No one forgives from the heart when the offence is deep.

I was making no such presumption. It says "messenger of Satan". That is what I believe it to mean. You said demons don't just torment. Satan, the head of demons, send a messenger to do that very thing to Paul.

Jesus meant that a person who did not forgive from the heart was going to hell, not just suffer computer glitches on earth.
Jesus said they were delivered to the tormenters, He did not say anything about hell. That is a presumption on your part. You are also presuming there are no temporal tormenters, when in fact there is a myriad of biblical examples of just such a thing. (Legion, the boy being thrown in the fire, Judas Iscariot having Satan enter him...) I could find more, but those just came to my head from memory.

Hell is an altogether very intriguing topic in my mind. I am learning quite a bit about it from the Bible when I've wiped away all the Catholic preconceptions carried over into modern day evangelicalism.
