It is mostly funny because I am a geek and I think these things are a riot. Anyway this is what the geeks of old thought a home computer would look like in 2004...

Reminds me of a scene in Apollo 13 where Tom Hanks character tells a group that they can build a computer to "fit in a room now".
The monitor in that picture looks like an old TV set I had - and it used little tubes inside that had to be replaced frequently.
