I'm baptist, so we don't do communion often, only I'm afraid it's coming soon. I know about 1 Corinthians 11:27, eating unworthily makes you guilty of sinning against Jesus, some people say makes you guilty of Jesus's death, as the people who actually beat Him on the cross were. I'm afraid of the unpardonable sin (blasphemy), possibly have committed apostasy in the past (Hebrews 6:4-6), and fear sometimes I do not have saving faith. How do I know if I'm worthy of communion? If I took it while backsliding, can I be forgiven?

My answer to questions like this center on this one fact... you care. If you had done something that was so against God, would He not turn you over to a reprobate mind? Give you up the world and whatever you desire in the flesh? But He hasn't and we know this because you care, hurt... to be able to draw close Him.

This is not the forum I can address your doctrinal points, but I will say this... you're welcome to send me a note or start another thread in an area where we can discuss doctrine. Until then... don't beat yourself up. We all have sinned... not that we desire to... but we all have and we all learn from it and try to not repeat the same mistakes. So... don't repeat the same mistakes. :)

First before you take communion confess your sins to the Lord and ask for forgiveness. Forgive others too.
Good answer... it isn't just asking to be forgiven of your own sins, but also forgiving others EVEN IF they wronged you.

Before you go take communion just ask the Lord to forgive you and pray and His peace will come. If he wants you to go ask forgiveness from someone else just obey Him.

JEsus says how many times a person can forgive its seventy times seven thats 490 times. He has a lot of grace! Remember Peter and how he was annoying Jesus a lot, and even denied Him three times. PEter was then sorry and asked the Lord forgiveness, he said he was a sinful man. Jesus still prayed for him and forgave him. Then they went and had supper..or fish bbq on the beach as its recorded in the gospel.

To partake of communion in an unworthy manner is explained in the chapter... there were people
gorging themselves as they would at a worldly buffet...leaving others without food because the gluttony of the others who'd ate all the food. There were divisions and factions in the church body,
each person doing they own thing...that's not how it should of been!
The people didn't consider communion sacred and gave no consideration that it's the Lord's Supper they are to celebrate...some were over indulging in the wine and getting drunk in the house of God!
I would think after the church mentioned in Corinthians had received Paul's sharp rebuke, they would of repented and the following communions would be done properly.
