I'm not sure what you're getting at here.

What I think my friend is meaning in that verse is that once we ask Jesus to come into our hearts no one not even the devil can remove us from God's protection. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it the catholic doctrine that you can lose your salvation if you don't do those things? How would I be able reconcile to my friend between those doctrines?~Alec

That would deny our free will. We can ask God to enter us, or we can send him packing. If God WOULDN'T leave, he would be forcing His will upon us. He doesn't do that.

We see it this way: If you know that Jesus wants you to do something, and you reject this call, are you really following Him?

If you reject his Call you may be following him in other areas of your life but wouldn't the real question be if you are putting him in 1st place in your life? ~Alec

"His Call" / "1st Place" are synonymous. The lukewarm He will vomit out.
