  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

If you believe that Jesus Christ is your LORD, feel free to partake in the Eucharist. (Communion)

Hmm, I'm a bit uncertain about your question.
Well if you're Catholic you should NEVER receive communion elsewhere. It's actually considered intercommunion which is a mortal sin.

If you're not and he is and you both now attend an Catholic church then you should not receive until such time you've converted.

God bless

My bad. I didn't check to see if this had to do with Catholicism or not.

I apologize of my error.

According to the Catholic position, you must take part of the Eucharist in the Catholic Church only after you have officially converted.

Correct, Anthony?

My inbox is always open sister. It's very common for converts to have lots of questions early on. I'm glad if I helped you.

Congrats on coming home sister :)
God bless you.

She should change her denomination to 'Catholic.' I mistakenly commented improperly.

That cool.

One may not take Catholic communion before ones officially part of the church.
During RCIA one may receive in ones former church until such time one has become Catholic and May approach the Lords table.

It's recommended though that a sincere person attending RCIA actively should stay away from what is considered pseudo rituals in protestant churches until one has reached an informed conclusion of whether or not one will become Catholic.

When you have become Catholic then it's Catholic communion only yes.
No more Eucharist elsewhere.

Forgive me of my heterodoxy. :p (Avowed non-denominational Protestant.)

Might be, I'm on my note so I'm not able to see fait icons.
This goes for you as well CIS, feel free to ask questions about Catholicism and send them directly to me inbox if you like.

God bless.

I am first and foremost a Charismatic but decided to become the faith of my Italian family but they didn't have one for a Charismatic Catholic

Relax, just don't shoot answers at our board unless you're sure it's orthodox Catholicism ;)

Then you're Catholic. We're one church despite liturgical differences etc. The doctrine is the glue holding the church together in all its diversity.

Would like to help however I can. I sometimes play 'devil's advocate' and argue from a Catholic or Orthodox point of view to accrue greater understanding of their positions despite disagreeing with it.

if you are Catholic then you should not take communion at non-Catholic churches

the idea is that we are not totally unified yet, we have doctrines that separate us
to take communion would be a sign of unity while that unity is not yet complete
that is one reason we do not take communion at other churches
