Stopped at 10 sec. mark, when the first two sentences are "This is Brother... and "what are the chances."

Two problems, person speaking is not a cosmologist, and his first question is an argument from incredulity.

I'll see if I can make it through the first ten minutes later.

The two aren't mutually exclusive, no. It's entirely possible for someone to be "brother X" or "father Y" and also be a cosmologist. The Vatican actually runs its own observatory with several members who have made significant contributions to science. I have no idea if the guy who made the video is a cosmologist or not, although I doubt it, since he didn't list any credentials.

The video actually comes from a group called Most Holy Family Monastery, who aren't really a group within the Church. They essentially believe that the Catholic Church hasn't been conservative enough since the Second Vatican Council, and they look at the Catholic Church as it is now as some sort of "counter-church" (their website's wording). They're also sedevacantists, who don't believe that the current pope is actually a legitimate successor to the apostle Peter, but is instead an antipope claiming false authority.

Alright. While I obviously disagree with him, I'm not trying to be insulting. I just wanted to be clear that the video isn't from the official Church hierarchy, and so while it might accurately reflect the majority view of the Vatican, it also might not. I haven't watched the entire thing, but I know that traditionalist societies which exist in schism with the Church are often more conservative on issues related to origins theology than most people within the official hierarchy. Because the website calls itself www . vaticancatholic. com (sorry about the breaks, but it turns into a link without them), I wanted it to be clear that the video wasn't official for anyone who didn't follow the link.

Made it to 30 mins before I gave up. Basic premise = argument from incredulity. Some of the usual trappings thrown in were specified complexity, contradictory arguments, misunderstanding of certain words, and fallacious analogies.

If there's a kicker at the end tell us where so we can go watch that bit. But in the 30 mins I wasted there wasn't anything which makes me think the rest will have anything worthwhile to offer. It's just re-hashed debunked arguments. Why would anyone spend nearly an hour watching that?

Posting fifty minute videos on a web forum makes it unlikely that people are going to watch the whole thing. I can't speak for everyone else, but my attention-span is so short that I have to really want to see a video to sit at a computer for that long. Usually when I'm on CF, I end up with the NC Register, Facebook, probably TV Tropes, and almost definitely some unexplainable Wikipedia article about the moons of Saturn open in another tab.

After a certain amount of time of inactivity (while you're watching a video), your cookies expire and it messes up your User CP.
