If I may have a U-Boat, I'll rent Das Boot again and see if I'm up to commanding one.
Ordinarily, I run and play in Star Trek games and am also worried about slipping up due to making the sudden change from those to yours.
Well if you want to, feel free to play, like I said, it's less a game than an rpg. Players can basically request to try almost anything, all I do is calculate results. It'll be the first one I've hosted too, so it won't exactly be going at light speed (pardon the pun). You can have a U-boat if you wan't to, but they don't have great stats, they're usually something of an npc possesion aquired by big-gunship commanders later. But hey, if you want a couple of them to start instead, go for it.

I'm sorry, but I don't speak "RPG". NPC means what?

Non Player Character, which, honestly, isn't exactly the right term for what I'm describing anyways, just similar. Basically a sub alone doesn't do too much, so normally they are parts of fleets owned by one player, not a starting 'standalone' ship. You'd need a few to start, but your character would suffer trying to opereate from a sub, not impossibly so though.

In WWII, subs were plenty active. *sighs*
My character would certainly be likely to suffer from a short life, that's for sure, but I very much liked the idea of commanding such a ship and keeping myself and my crew alive as long as possible.

If they aren't standalone ships, then I'll bow out now. Thank you for inviting me to play, though, and kindly answering my questions. :)

Sorry! Accidental pun!

Well I'm giving warning that a single sub would not likely have quite as grand of a role, but it's a matter of options and chances, technically you can play as the captain of one sub if you really want to, you just have a greater chance of death than the average player (submarine sinkings usually yield no survivors). If you wan't to you can, just warning is all. :)

Sorry, not in the habbit of checking this thread very often, just look when it was originally started! :D

Anyhow, I'll put both of you up with your choices right away... Unfortunately we need a good 4 to start, we've got you two on axis, ND on allies, but Plan9 (if she's playing) is going sub, regardless of side, we need another big-guns allies player before we can get started. Shouldn't take too too long though, this threads actually getting it's second wind I think! In the meantime, since we have got interest now, I'll work on getting some setup forms posted along with some stat forms, it'll be a couple of days (I'm in the middle of a trying school week) but by the weekend for sure. As for characters, it is really optional how in detail you go with them, your more or less playing generic human commanders, it's the descisions you make with your fleet more-so than your 'guys' details, but feel free to elaborate as you wish, just remember think 'human' & 'ww2'.

Will you have maps for us, so we know where we are and where we're going????
Yup, just still haven't decided whether I'll use an online one and reference events/locations or host my own, bigger pain, but it can be altered and reloaded to give an easier picture of what's going on... Either way I can't post maps with your location ticked off, else the enemy (other players) can always check where you are, so your own location 'n such at least will have be a reference sent by PM. There will be a map with ports of call and political boundaries of some kind however! BTW, do you want an axis or allied submarine Plan9?

Not a problem, the Revenge is yours. I've done a bad job explaining this game I think... anyhow, now we got four and I'm gonna be in the hotseat to get things going! Ack! :D
Don't worry I'm not too slow, but it'll take me a few days to get the sheets for options together, generate a randomish history and get a map uploaded, so bare with me please, you guys should have info and options by the end of the weekend if not during.
The game is reasonably simple Kelly, you'll be making alot of decisions but the combat part is more or less generated off-site, so no-one has to log-in for a whole afternoon to do fifty back-in-forth 'turns' to resolve a fight. The game would be way too slow that way. You do get to choose some options about what you want your ship to do in a fight beforehand though, amongst other options.
Well give me a few days and we'll be starting!

Oh, and FYI, anyone can join in late, to the extent that ships remain on each side to command (very likely) and operate!

I agree! Please don't tell everyone where I am! I'll probably won't be able to keep myself alive for long as it is, especially since I want an Axis sub.

Don't worry, Kelly!! You can count on me to be more confused at any given time.

Hey, where are the Axis commanders??!!
