• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Eight days till chrismation. Father David has set a time to hear my confession. I am, as told by Fr. David, reading the entire Psalter before Confession.

HEADING HOME!!!

** From the Renunciations

Priest: Have you renounced all ancient and modern heresies and false doctrines that are contrary to the teachings of the Holy Orthodox Catholic Church?

Candidate: I have.

Priest: Do you desire to be united to the Holy Orthodox Catholic Church?

Candidate: I desire it with all my heart.

Thank you, Father. Be sure to pray for my Roman Catholic wife who is still quite upset that she will no longer be married to a Catholic. She has been, by God's grace, I believe, pretty quiet about the whole thing, with only a couple of eruptions.

Glory to God. It is a great joy for me to see this. It is very rare in my immediate circle and it is the most beautiful thing.

I am not sure who said this first, but I just happened to hear it today from Archimandrite Ephraim of Vatopedi: on this topic, talk more to God about your wife than to your wife...

Just be patient with her. From where she’s sitting, you’re leaving the fullness of the faith for a schismatic ethnic bunch. She doesn’t “get” Orthodoxy yet. The key will be in the results. If she sees wonderful changes in you, it will pique her curiosity. The more humility, kindness, patience, and mercy abounding in you, the more you become a living testimony of the Faith. The more you yammer on about Orthodox this and Orthodox that you’ll annoy her to no end. Do the “show me/don’t tell me” approach!
