Psalm 37:23-24

The Lord makes firm the steps
of the one who delights in him;
though he may stumble, he will not fall,
for the Lord upholds him with his hand.

Luke 10:38-42

As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”

“Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed - or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”

I think we've done this before, but I thought it would be good to post any scriptures we have found to be particularly helpful during the painful times (physically, mentally or emotionally).

This helped me during a recent difficulty:

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned;
the flames will not set you ablaze.
Isaiah 43 v 2 (NIV)

What ones have helped you? :)
I love this one:

Rom 8:38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

Rom 8:39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

The Lord your God is with you,
he is mighty to save.
He will take great delight in you,
he will quiet you with his love,
he will rejoice over you with singing.

Thanks much for bumping this thread up where we can remember all the good stuff from scripture and share it with others here.

I will be sharing this with staff that is for sure.

Let's spread these messages of hope all around this website, on the forums where Christianity is allowed.

And yes, let's keep adding on as we remember

Romans 5:1-5
1. Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
2. By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
3. And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulations worketh patience;
4. And patience, experience,; and experience, hope:
5.And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

I waited patiently for the Lord;
he turned to me and heard my cry.
He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
out of the mud and mire;
he set my feet on a rock
and gave me a firm place to stand.
He put a new song in my mouth,
a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear
and put their trust in the Lord.
Psalm 40 v 1-3

u2spicy,

I think about you often and pray for you every night. Would you give us an update and tell us how you are doing? You could also tell us how to more specifically pray.

Sure Magnum

I think of you every day and wonder how you are, and if you feel any pain or have a normally working bladder by now. Will you need to keep going back for tests to make sure its all gone?

I guess I would say I need prayers for my body to heal well. The muscles and ligaments were really moved out of the way in a harsh manner and this retraction has caused them to go a little crazy with spasms, muscle knots, and severe weakness. There is lots of long tight muscle knots or short and tough trigger point types of knots. I need prayer that these knots and tight ligaments recover and return to normal. My pelvis is different and everything holding it all together is angry right now and trying to recover and figure out what the new normal is.

My gait is off and so there are now some foot pains too. My sacrum has issues now too, all of this due to ligaments being moved around.

When you muscles are retracted, they switch off and you come back from surgery very weak. I remember when I got to the recovery room, I could not even lift my leg anymore, and 1 week later, I still couldn't even lift my heel off the bed.

u2spicy,

I will make everything you noted a matter of prayer. It sounds like you will also need patience and determination, especially in the physical therapy.

As for me, I still need a procedure on my bladder, but they're going to make sure the cancer is gone first. It's probably a minimum of about 60 days for me to know more. I'm optimistic about being almost normal. I also have problems with my back and take physical therapy and pain management for that. I have hopes of better movement and less pain in the near future. The physical therapy is a "no pain - no gain" sort of situation. I think that we both need patience and determination. May God walk with us every step of the way.
