  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Robin Williams passed away today at the age of 63.

Robin Williams dead; he was battling depression - CNN.com

He is best remembered for portraying Mork on the TV series Mork & Mindy, but went on to star in many movies on the big screen as well.

This thread is to pay tribute to this talented star. My condolences go out to the Williams family.

It is sad. It seems we lost a lot of good ones this year.

I really appreciated his work. He actually was a pretty versatile actor; although his strength was definitely comedy, he played some great dramatic roles, too.

Patch Adams was an impressive movie. It was based on a true story about a doctor who related to his patients as human beings by making them smile through their pain. And I personally think we need more of that in today's world of so much tragedy.

I also enjoyed M&M back in the day. Of course, I was a little kid when it was originally on, but I wasn't too young to enjoy the antics of his character in the very show that made him a star!

He will be missed.

Yes, it shows us things aren't always as they appear. We really need to take a lesson from this and reach out to one another. He was such a good man, God bless his soul.

How right you are! It's a good lesson for all of us to learn.

It seems he did support some good causes. I saw some commercials in which he was a spokesman for St. Jude's Hospital.
