Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ called to be saints,
Is Orthodox Theology that important? Why all this theology talk
anyway? Can't we all just get along?
So many, nowadays, seem to want to pretend that differences don't
really matter. I understand why some may feel this way. As Christians
we are called to be peacemakers. But is it to be peace at any price?
One of the great poverties of our modern age is the loss of an
authentic Christian heritage and Christian memory. Because of this
loss, many in our churches are ripe for what St. Paul called "vain
philosophies" that actually do more harm to a person's spiritual
growth than good. We Orthodox Christians are called to be faithful
to the timeless message of Christ, but we can't be faithful if we
don't know what that message is.
That's why this week's program is so important. I pray you will take
the time to listen this week and learn about the hard work, done on
your behalf and for your benefit, of the fathers of the Councils.
These Christian heroes preserved for us the faith once for all
delivered to the saints, so that we wouldn't fall into old errors
over and over again. Join me this week as I speak to Fr. John Behr
about these mighty servants of God and His Church.
Also, don't miss Frederica Matthews-Greene as she gives us a
personal intro to Orthodoxy.
