• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

HippieForChrist, I get the whole stress of studying/end of semester feeling too. Definitely am having the end-of-semester burnout - I'm so tired of caring about grades, yet I can't stop caring either. Being a perfectionist sucks!!
That's exactly how I feel as well. I wish I could just procrastinate for the rest of the semester and be totally irresponsible, but then I get to feeling guilty about what that would do to my GPA (and what it would mean to my parents, since they're the ones paying for my tuition), and I give in to the stress. Blah. I'm right there with ya in wishing that it were summer vacation already.
But it'll be summer soon (yey) - are you taking any summer classes or anything? I'm planning on relaxing (and working on campus, so I won't really get away from academia, haha), so that will indeed be nice.
Nope, not taking any summer classes. I've actually heard that summer and winter courses are even more difficult than regular, semester-long classes, since with summer/winter classes, an entire semester's worth of work has to be condensed into a month or two of classes. Yikes! So I'm determined to only take non-semester-long classes if it's the only choice I have. Getting a semester's worth of work done in the timeframe of a single semester is tough enough for me, lol.

What I am planning on doing is getting a summer job, though so far my search has been in vain. I'm thinking of possibly seeing if any of the ice cream places near me need any summer help, though. I hope your summer ends up being fun, and I hope that your job goes well. Good luck with everything!

I took some summer classes in uni and they weren't that bad. But I made sure to carefully read the descriptions and not take a class I felt would be too hard. I did my languages in the summers. And a few electives.

Well, I'm such a huge procrastinator that I'd likely leave the entire semester's worth of work until the last week of summer, and then I'd be doomed. I'm glad summer classes are working for you, though. :)

HAHA no, I never do homework. That's what I mean with the whole looking up what the class is before taking it. I wasn't going to take one that had lots of work to do. The languages worked only because I didn't have a job as they were 5 hours a day. Being so intensive, there wasn't any homework, in my situation. I took them so I could procrastinate :)

But maybe your school has it set up differently that it isn't possible to take easier courses in the summer.

Hi everybody,

after speedwalking and doing exercises yesterday I'm so stiff and sore, I'm shuffling around like an old person. And then unfortunately because of the agreement I have with my boss I had to use the treadmill today, 20mins but it was a nice speed, not too fast, I just wanted to stretch my muscles but I think I made them sore again. oh well. He went for a run in the rain and swam in the sea so I have to grit my teeth and get on with it.
What plans does everybod have for the weekend? I've got a PreCalc lesson tomorrow otherwise should be fairly relaxing. I must try to spend time on those subjects that I'm behind in.
I do need to get a pill organizer, which reminds me, I forgot to take my tablet this evening so I better do that soon. The funny thing is I used to work in a pharmacy so no excuse for me not to have bought one.
Let me stop rambling and wander off.

It's turning out to be pretty good, thanks. :)

LOL, I'll try not to. Maybe I'll just punch my pillow instead. ;)

Thanks for the encouragement, and I'll be sure to read the book of Daniel today if I get to feeling overwhelmed again. (Or heck, even if I don't get overwhelmed, I could still read it. It's never a bad time to listen to what God has to say, after all.)

Lucky you! (Well, lucky that your classes were cancelled...unlucky that the weather is so gross where you are.) Are you going to do anything fun with your day off today?

Thanks. Same to you!
Umm, I'm not the one is school....my kids are, I'm just the old married mommy...Ha..Ha!!! They had the day off because of the storm. I must just sound so young, you thought I was a kid...teh heh. My voice does sound young though. People always think I'm a kid. People have asked me to speak to my daddy before, when I've answered the phone! Can you imagine their surprise and embarrassement when ever I told them I was Mrs.!

Sorry about the mix-up, lol. But I guess it's better to be thought of as younger than you are than older than you are, right? ;)

Plans for the weekend, TLB? Well I've got work tomorrow, and church Sunday morning. And that's it. I'm on spring break and just getting to that point where I'm ready to go back to school. Not b/c I like getting up at 6:30 in the morning but b/c I want to see my friends again!

Plans for the weekend.... eehg. I have part of a psych paper to write, a term paper to revise (the one I finished writing this morning ^_^), and two chapters of psych to study for two quizzes this next week. And hopefully I'll get the chance to talk with my fiance (via MSN and webcam) at least once, if not twice. That would be lovely. :)

Other than that, I'm really not going to be doing much. I'm not even sure if we will make it to church, if the weather's going to be nasty. It would be nice if we could, though, since we didn't make it last Sunday.

I am looking forward to next weekend, though... at this point in time, it looks like it will be a less hellish one, given that the following week I will have no papers due. This next week I have two due :swoon: so ... stress stress STRESS! (and I'm supposed to be working on NOT stressing!!)

Tonight I'm going to see if I can get my hamster out of her cage and into her wheel tonight, and make her exercise enough so she will sleep tonight instead of running around and gnawing on the bars of her cage. :p That is slightly distracting... the only problem is that she made a nest inside the solid wheel that came with her cage, and it's nearly impossible to get her out of that, so I have to wait until she wakes up and comes out herself. Hamsters, hamsters, hamsters... crazy things! :p

How is everyone this evening??

 Hello! Snowing again today...ugh! I have no plans for this weekend. I wouldn't mind getting out of the house and visiting some friends though. Tomorrow will be church services. One good thing is that I've gotten a break from leading the worship!

Wishing you success Soulwings with all the homework!!

Blessings everyone!

My plans for this weekend are actually a lot similar to yours, Soulwings, in that they center around homework.

Today I'm going to revise my reaction paper for Sociology class and do my CSS assignment for Web Publishing class.

Tomorrow, I'm going to do the problems for sections 6A through 6C for my Math Modelling class, as well as trying to figure out what to do my statistics project on for that class.

On Monday (which I have off as well, since I take all three of my classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays), I'm going to study for a quiz I'll be taking on Tuesday in Sociology class.

So I have a pretty busy weekend ahead of me.

Soulwings, I hope your homework-filled weekend goes well, though.

JesusFreak, I hope work is going well today, and I hope you have fun at church tomorrow.

Mask, I hope you end up not feeling too cooped up today. I certainly know how tough that can be. And good luck leading worship tomorrow.

 Hello! Just popped in to say good morning before heading off to chuch! Hope you all have a blessed day today! Have fun and feel good!

I did get out of the house yesterday! We had a great afternoon and evening with friend! Actually HippyForChrist, today I get a break from leading the worship! Sometimes it's nice to just relax and let someone else do it. Don't wear your brain out studying ;) !

Thanks. I hope you have a blessed day as well. I'm glad you get a break from leading the worship today...enjoy it! Oh, and I'll try not to wear my brain out, but sometimes it's tough not to, especially when you have a mountain of work to get done by the end of the semester and you want to get it all done sooner rather than later.

Hehe, BigToe, I will try to do that! She's rather hard to photograph though, especially since she gets up just about the time that I go to bed. (Go figure, I wish she would switch that around a bit so she doesn't keep me up at night... she's still chewing on the wire walls of her cage and that is so loud!!) But I'll try. And I'll even try to have my lava lamp going in the background for that funky look that totally goes with my room. :p

Speaking of Molly, I can't wait to get some accessory stuff to make her cage a bit better. She doesn't have any tubes to climb in yet, and I want to remove the solid wheel in which she has made a nest and replace it with a nesting box ("bedroom") with a removable ceiling, so I can get her whenever I need/want her. So we'll see. Either order that online, or check out the pet stores around here. I'd rather not do the online ordering deal, but oh well. Another $20 either way.

Today has been okay. I woke up feeling horrible mentally and physically - last night was a bad night emotionally, and that always makes things worse in the morning, especially since I didn't sleep that well - but I'm feeling better now. We went to church, and that was lovely since the sermon really hit home. I like it when it does that although it's still kind of a "wow" when that happens. And afterwards we got Molly some cheese & nut nibbles and some chai for us. So that was nice. I hope she actually eats the nibbles though; perhaps that will keep her from eating the wire?? :swoon:

Other than that, not much is new. Working on my term paper (bleh) which is almost done (yey) and the weather outside is crappy (ugh). And I'm caffeinated so I will stay awake (yey!).

How are you all doing?

/me snuggles up in a corner chair with a mug of coffee and Dante's Inferno to read; she wants to finish the last three cantos so she can officially say that she's read the entire book. ^_^

Hi eveybody, sounds like everybody's doing well which is really good.
I don't have much to say really, I had a good weekend and am looking forward to work tomorrow. I want to get the work that I'm currently busy with done as soon as possible so I can go onto something new.

April, a cheap and quick way to give Molly some toys is to give her some toilet paper or paper towel tubes when they're empty. I had a hamster once that loved climbing through those and sort of lined them up to make a tunnel way and made a nest in one.

That *is* a good idea, BigToe. Thank you!!

TLB, I'm so glad that your weekend went well. :) It's always lovely when that happens. And looking forward to work is good too (I wish I could say the same about uni....).

Right now I am wishing that I could toss Hamlet into a fire. He's looking at me right now... on the desk in front of me. I'm okay with Dante's Inferno - I actually liked reading that, probably because I read the whole thing in my spare time, rather than reading it in its entirety in a structured and limited time period, like I had to do with Hamlet.

I got my Amazon order the other day... Anne Sexton is a lovely poet... I can't wait to read the rest of her poems - I got an anthology of all her poems, and some of them are brutally honest (she was criticised for that honesty), but I admire her nonetheless. Probably because I can empathise with her life (mentally ill, suicide attempts, hospitalisation, etc., etc.). And yes, I am a "budding poet" .... hehe. I'm on my second poetry class at the moment, and will probably eventually take another one - I love my prof and I love the way she teaches. And I love the class in general - there's only 7 students, so it's really up close and personal. And my poems are brutally honest, so the other people know my problems and struggles, and I'm okay with that. :) [/ramble] Anyway, I also got The Color Purple by Alice Walker - anyone read that?? and an athletic yoga book through which I have already partially worked. Wheee....

/me fixes a sugarfree white chocolate mocha, and nestles in a beanbag with her journal and a mystery novel.
