• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Mask, I went to the Good Friday Service at my church. Tomorrow hopefully we'll be having a Sunrise Service on the beach if it doesn't rain followed by breakfast.

April, did you get your hamster? I hope we get to see it soon.

Happy Resurrection Sunday everyone!!! We didn't get to go to our Sunday service today because we had a snow storm last night  !!! I don't want more snow!!! Hubby is out trying to shovel out the car :sigh: . Oh well...things could be worst :p .

A service on the beach sounds divine! I'm so jealous TLB! I'm not jealous about the sunrise part of it though ^_^ . It must be so beautiful to live in South Africa! Some friends of mine have gone to Africa on mission trips so I've seen some pictures...very pretty.

I'll pass on the hot cross buns...but I'd love some chocolate :yum: !

Have an awesome day all!!

Mask, I have an eating disorder (anorexic tendencies currently, although I did used to overeat), and I lost a lot of weight from that (it's been in the anorexic [restricting calories/fasting] for nearly 2 years now), and then regained it last February. But what I regained was mostly fat weight, so now, after treatment to help get me back on a healthy eating track (no more fasting, restricting, etc.), I am trying to lose fat weight with Bruce (nutritionist) guiding me. I'm on a 1200 calorie meal plan, and I'm terrified of gaining weight. I usually end up eating less than that, which is really bad, since it usually goes to about 800 calories (bad days, around 550), and that's basically where I was a year ago before I started treatment. I'm terrified of drinking, since in the past that has meant gaining water weight, and even if it is just water weight and not fat, it still makes the number on the scale go up. So retaining fluid scares the heck out of me. Does that make a little more sense?

Happy Easter everyone! We didn't make it to church either... I have so much coursework to do, everyone is exhausted, and it snowed/is snowing (although not much). It's just me and my parents, so we don't really celebrate that much, other than quietly rejoicing in the Resurrection. And of course, enjoying the candy that we have gotten for each other (my parents do a basket for me, and I do a basket for each of them ^_^).

The hamster! I got her yesterday, and this morning named her Molly. Here are some photos... she is so adorable! And the silly thing has made a nest inside her wheel - actually carried bedding (wood shavings) with her! She's so much smaller than the hamster I took care of for my sister - she fits comfortably in my hand, although when I pick her up she "chews me out" by cheekily making a "chitchitchit" noise. Anyway... photos!

HPIM0180small.jpg

HPIM0175small.jpg

HPIM0181small.jpg

She is currently living in my room with me, on my desk (since I never use it). And she is actually quiet at night! minus some crunching when she got a midnight snack. :)

Do any of you write poetry? I was wondering mainly because April is poetry month (and my name is April... teehee, I feel special...), and I found some amazing poetry quotes. I collect quotes, so I loved the discovery!!

Hope everyone is doing well (and enjoying the sunrise beach service, and the snow!). Hugs to all!

Hi everbody, happy Easter!
It rained so we had to have the service and breakfast in our church hall but it was good.
April, your hamster is so cute!
I bought running shoes today and used a treadmill for 20 minutes and went for a 40 min walk so lets hope I'm not too stiff in the morning!

Happy Resurrection Everyone, I know its late 11:30 pm but I had to pop in here and yack at y'all! I had to go to service today, the choir was singing today in both services and both services were packed to the max and then some! OY Vey! But God blessed those who did attend and I hoped some accepted the Lord as Savior.. I think the Lord touched me in some way over the past weeks, I guess one of the songs I dearly love now is Free from Steven Curtis Chapman cd Signs of Life.. Man I think that song will fit me now and I cling to it each day..

My Family were there this morning, my Husband, son and Mother in law and Sister in law and her husband it was so nice.. We all had a nice time, went to have lunch at a certain park but that was closed so we were going where to go next?? So we went to a smaller park, actually better really but I was getting upset because people were kicking socerballs all over and a football and I have an 18month old son whom I dont want hurt by a ball flying around, and I told them to plze move so finally they did.. I think they felt me a little tensed and a stern voice.. The day was beautiful but I got a little sun-burned but it dont hurt.. I crashed once I got home, I slept bout 6hrs last night was up after 6am this morning to be at church at 7:45am.. So yeah Long day!

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter and remember He is Risen!

BlessedMommy05:)

Hi all ! How's everyone today? Hopefully great! I'm pretty good actually...bit of a headache though. Hubby has a bit of a cold so he snore a lot last night  ! I finally had to get him to go down and sleep on the sofa.

The hamster is cute April...even though it looks a lot like the dreaded mouse that is terrorizing our house ^_^ !!!
So sorry to hear of your battle with anorexia! My problem is not eating enough...it's eating to much! I'm a emotional eater. If I'm sad, nervous, depressed, bored, anxious, angry, probably even when I'm happy....what ever, I eat! I need to start controlling it a bit. I want to lose about 30 pounds...again!! Here we go on the merry-go-round of dieting, gaining, and dieting again! Yuck!! Been there, done that :sigh: . I end up weighing the same as when I started, only more of it is fat!

How's the leg muscles TLB, sore yet? That's great that you are exercising! I need to do something too. I'm turning to mush!!

Are you in the choir BlessedMommy05? I sing. I lead the worship at our church. Sounds like you sure did have a busy day. You must be busy with your baby too.

Have a great day everyone!

Oh yah, did ya notice I figured out how to get my character!! Cool  ! Doesn't quite look like me, but I tried to come close. Add a few more pounds and shorten the hair some...close enough ^_^ .

Hi Mask,

your character looks great!

My legs actually aren't too bad today, maybe I'm not working hard enough yet. I really couldn't do too much today for some reason, my legs just wouldn't push harder so I only did 20 mins on the treadmill, I was hoping to do 40mins. I'm more eager then ever to join an athletic club or join my boss because he's looking for someone to run with. I'm so unfit that I'd hold him back so maybe I shouldn't join him just yet. We'll see how I go.

My baby yes he keeps me busy for sure, he's 18months old and on my toes! I love it though but its a challange cuz I am new at this parenting thing! lol Anyway hope your well and blessed..

Hello everyone! How's things going today for everybody? It's a good day for me! The sun is shining today so that's good  . Other than a stupid headache (since yesterday), my day was fun!

TLB...20 minutes for your first attempt is great  ! I think you should take your time and build yourself up in time so you don't push yourself to much.

BlessedMommy05...If you are in the choir, you must be a decent singer! I'm sure you could be on a worship team. Maybe you know how to harmonize and you don't even know it? I sure didn't know that I knew how to sing harmony! When the previous leader asked me if I sang melody or harmony, I didn't even know what those words meant let alone know which one I sang...and now I'm the worship leader and train other singers ^_^ , God is so funny! He uses the simple (me) to confound the wise! You should go for it some day!

Hey guys. Hope you don't mind a newcomer. ::shy smile:: It was, of course, the coffee in the title that caught my eye. Normally, I don't frequent this forum but today's been a rough day so far... and I forgot my meds for a week making a rough day rougher. ::shifty eyes:: So anyhow, hi. I'm Victoria.

Hey Victoria  and of course we welcome you - newcomers are wonderful. The more people we can cheer up, the better. :) I'm sorry today's been rough - and I can definitely empathise with forgetting meds! I have a terrible memory for taking them. I still live with my parents, so they help me remember, or else I'd definitely not be taking them as frequently as I have to (4x a day, different cocktails each time...). Can I get you anything to drink? Tea? Coffee? Chai?

I haven't been here for a few days, whoops.

Mask, I actually have battled eating problems for 11 years. For 9 of those 11 years, I was a comfort eater. I've never known a stable weight, and that's part of the fear now... I'm supposed to be getting down to a healthy and stable weight, but I'm scared that I'm not going to be able to do it. When I get stressed, I eat some too - not totally bingeing or anything, but eating a little more than I'd like to, an extra 200 calories a day or so, but still..... it makes me uncomfortable. And I'm terrified of gaining fat weight... and that's what happened this past week, not because I'd been eating too much, but because of the stress that's going on right now, with it being the last three and a half weeks of classes. :swoon: I hate being so busy!! Over the weekend, I have to write two papers and study for two quizzes.... goodness, how I am looking forward to summer!

And speaking of summer... I get to see my fiance in May! That excites me to no end - he lives in Minnesota, and I live in Pennsylvania, so we haven't seen much of each other - he is moving here in August/September, but it was going to be an 8 month period that I wouldn't see him - and now it's broken up and I will get to see him. ^_^ Sorry, that was a really long sentence... hehe. And I'll get my ring as well; he hadn't bought it when he proposed in December. So that's exciting too. From what I saw of it on webcam, it's gorgeous. Anyway, any ring that he picked out would be perfect for me. :)

I've named my hamster Molly. She's been pretty cute - climbing the walls of her cage and then falling down and landing in her food dish. I really need to get a photo of her doing that, but doing so would be rather tricky! And it's odd - when you try and pick her up, she finally gives up running, and flips over on her back, squeaking. When you finally have her in your hand, she goes to the bathroom. I wonder if she'll ever get used to being picked up?? *ponders*

And insomnia has returned, rearing its evil head. I hate being awake at odd hours of the night - last night I slept from 9:30 to midnight, then was awake from midnight to half two, and then slept the last three and a half hours til 6am. *swoons* Ughhh!

How are you all? *sheepish* I think I rambled on a little too long.......

/me curls up in a beanbag in the corner with a diet green tea, watching the clouds drift across the grey, wet sky.

Thanks Soulwings. I think I'll help myself to a cup of tea, thank you. ^_^ I live with my dad but he hates that I'm on meds so I don't get any reminders. Well, during school I do. I have a friend in my first period class that ALWAYS asks me if I've taken my "happy pills". Typically the answer is me scrounging around in my backpack to find them.

Your hamster is so cute! I don't like rodent-esque things but that one's adorable. Insomnia sucks. I'm in a group on yahoo and one of the discussions is of sleeping meds. Idk how you feel about them but there's a lot of natural stuff. Melatonin, 5HTP, and a bunch of others. I've taken both the ones I mentioned before. Melatonin worked great for me and I took my 5HTP in the am (it's a natural anti-depressant too and that's what I was taking it for) so idk how it is on sleep.
:praying: you get a good nights sleep tonight

Hey. How's everyone doing today? I hope you're all doing well. :) As for me, it's stress city, as the semester is winding down and all of my professors are piling on the last-minute tests, quizzes, projects, and papers. I'm just about ready to hit my head against the wall a few thousand times. But I think instead I'll settle for venting to you all. Sound like a plan?

Hey everybody, its nice to see some new people. I can't believe how this thread has grown. I'm been away for a day or so because work has been keeping me pretty busy.I went walking with a club yesterday. It is interesting to say the least. We did speedwalking and exercises for about an hour. I am so sore today and I'm supposed to walk everyday, its an agreement that I have with my boss. I probably won't walk very far or too fast but I have to do a little bit.I hope everybody is doing well or at least better then they were. I'm forgetting to take my medication too, I forgot two doses, took last night then forgot this morning so I hope I don't crash soon.

Good day all! Hopefully it is a good day for you!

Hi to you newcomers...Victoria and HippyForChrist, glad to have you here! Ahh, don't hit your head to hard eh, that won't help with the studying much :swoon: ....teh heh.

Man I feel really bad for all of you having to deal with the stress of finals and studying! I :prayer: that you don't get to stressed out and that things go well. Remember we have the mind of Christ. I forget where it's at in the Bible exactly (somewhere in Daneil), but remember how God gave Daniel favor in his studies and knowledge...I'm sure He can give it to you guys too ;) !

That's so exciting for you April/Soulwings....having your fiance back!!! When are you guys planning to get married? I hope you get some sleep too! I know it's easy to say...but try not to worry so much about your weight! Love yourself for who you are!

TLB...Wow, walking everyday, that's great! Don't overdo it though.

Why don't you guys get one of those pill keeper thingys. The ones with the days of the week in them and keep it in an obvious place where you can't miss seeing it? Missing your meds is not good  ! That's the mother coming out in me ^_^ .

It's storming here today...ugh! School was cancelled. Freezing rain and snow. I hate winter!!!! Bring on the summer! I'm sure I've said that numerous times before.

Have a great day everyone! I might be on later.

G'morning, everyone. :) I think I'll help myself to a latte... I need all the caffeine that I can get!! I'm attempting to work on a term paper right now, but I'm getting stuck, so I'm taking a little bit of distraction now and then to help me not get frustrated. :p

HippieForChrist, I get the whole stress of studying/end of semester feeling too. Definitely am having the end-of-semester burnout - I'm so tired of caring about grades, yet I can't stop caring either. Being a perfectionist sucks!! But it'll be summer soon (yey) - are you taking any summer classes or anything? I'm planning on relaxing (and working on campus, so I won't really get away from academia, haha), so that will indeed be nice.

TLB, sounds like good exercise! Wow. I try to walk every day too - my nutritionist makes me wear a pedometer and my goal is to get at least 7000 steps per day (3000 steps for me is roughly a mile). So I go for walks around town whenever I'm not in class or doing homework. Don't overdo it, though, like Mask says... you can get some nasty shin splints if you spend too much time exercising. But exercising some is really good, and it's encouraging to see you taking the initiative to do so!

Mask, we really aren't sure when we're getting married. The current plan is 2010, when I graduate, but it might be 2009, depending on his job and benefits and all. We were thinking of getting married next June, but that would mean paying for another 2+ years of college, and as of now I go tuition free, because my dad is a prof, and that is something that my parents advised me (wisely) to not give up. So... I really don't know. :) I'm definitely looking forward to it, whenever it is! Hehe.

We're supposed to get a whopper of a storm here on Sunday and Monday, a nor'easter with plenty of snow. I'm kind of looking forward to it, although I'm definitely ready for spring as well!

I slept a little better last night, although I woke up at 3:45 and didn't get back to sleep til around 5... when I had to get up at 6. Eww. :swoon: But oh well, I'm caffeinated so it's all good! Hehe.

Alright, back to work. Hope you all are doing well!

Good day all! Hopefully it is a good day for you!
It's turning out to be pretty good, thanks. :)

Hi to you newcomers...Victoria and HippyForChrist, glad to have you here! Ahh, don't hit your head to hard eh, that won't help with the studying much :swoon: ....teh heh.
LOL, I'll try not to. Maybe I'll just punch my pillow instead. ;)

Thanks for the encouragement, and I'll be sure to read the book of Daniel today if I get to feeling overwhelmed again. (Or heck, even if I don't get overwhelmed, I could still read it. It's never a bad time to listen to what God has to say, after all.)

It's storming here today...ugh! School was cancelled. Freezing rain and snow. I hate winter!!!! Bring on the summer! I'm sure I've said that numerous times before.
Lucky you! (Well, lucky that your classes were cancelled...unlucky that the weather is so gross where you are.) Are you going to do anything fun with your day off today?

Have a great day everyone! I might be on later.
Thanks. Same to you!
