• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Thanks, BigToe. *more snuggles back*

Things are just getting really busy. They're a bit better now that I've got most of today's stuff done, and a meeting set up with my prof for Thursday, but still... it's the end of the semester and things are really quite crazy. I'm a bit nervous as far as all my work goes - especially in psych. We've a quiz on Thursday, as well as our final draft of the huge paper (which we've been working on all semester) being due. And that's only the day after tomorrow! :swoon: I am going to be so glad when this semester is over....

We had a meeting for campus tutors this afternoon, to set up hours and what courses we could tutor for, and I can't believe how many I'm doing! Spanish 101, 102, 201, and 202 ... psych 101 ... chem 101 ... English 090 and 112. I think that's it. That's added on three courses that I've never tutored before, psych and both Englishes. Hopefully it will go okay... but I don't need to worry about that until fall. This summer I'm only tutoring chem 101, I think Spanish 101 & 102, and English 112. I think that's it, anyway.

I got Molly out in her ball yesterday. She ran for almost forty-five minutes again. Energetic little thing! Wish I had that much energy.... :p

How are you all doing this afternoon??

Hi April, I'm glad you're doing a bit better now. Hang in there, you will get it all done.
My day hasn't been too bad, started off badly though because my attitude wasn't good, I annoyed a friend and my boss seemed to be a bit irritated because I wasn't believing in myself, despite the fact that I was really positive the whole of last week and yesterday. Today was just a down day. Every day now I suppose I have to force myself to believe in myself before I start work.

Yah, we all need to start believing in ourselves...don't we! Hang in there girls, you can do it  .

I'm played out now!! I did too much cleaning and laundry...my back is really burning now but I'm glad I got some nasty jobs done.

My kids just got home from school...they both seem a bit cranky...just lovely! Daughter has a headache so I guess I can excuse her somewhat.

Blessings to you all  .

 Hi all:

Thought I'd check out this thread. I bought a blood pressure unit today and got a little scare. Normally I have low blood pressure, but, wow, its gone up to 120/88. I'm researching natural ways to bring it down. Gonna have to eliminate the coffee for awhile or just make it weaker.

Headed over to Mom's to clean her house.

Bless you all,
Kim

Good morning everybody!

My morning started off rotten...headache, face pain, back pain, hubby screwed up last night and didn't bring home the groceries he was supposed to for the kids school lunches so I was really upset with him and talked mean to him (which I'll have to apologize as soon as he gets home  ), another mouse chewed my bread and messed up my freshly cleaned and organized cupboard  !!!!! :sigh: not a good start to my day! Oh well, I've calmed down now and can ^_^ at myself! Oh how I tend to overreact to such foolishness! I've always been like that, I feel out of control when things suddenly change from how I had thought they were going to go. I get into a panic because I don't know what to do and someone will probably blame me if things go wrong! Someone must have blamed me for something that was totally out of my control whenever I was a child  . It's getting better but I still overreact and get all worked up over trivial things...they aren't trival to me but to most people they would be. God help me.

April, do you think you might be taking on a huge load with all that tutoring plus your studying? Don't get into overload if it isn't necessary.

inHisgripkim...hope your blood pressure evens out! Are you stressed out over anything...that wouldn't help it?

Well I gotta soon get off here and call for a hair appointment for myself and my daughter. Hopefully we can get in this afternoon.

Have an awesome day all!

Hi Kim.
Just read your post and I thought 120 over 80 was ok, so is 88 all that bad.
Anyway, go easy on giving up the coffee, that could really play havoc with the system ^_^ .
God bless

Hey, everyone.
Unfortunately, I've got the flu right now, so you won't see much of me today. I just wanted to let you know so that you didn't think I had forgotten about you all. I hope everyone is having a blessed day, and I'll talk more when I'm feeling better.

Thanks. I got over the brunt of it last night, thankfully, and right now I'm just feeling weak, feverish, achy and exhausted. I'm trying to keep myself going, though, especially since I've got a bunch of projects and papers to work on.

How are you doing?

The diastolic 88 is considered prehypertension. My blood pressure used to be 118/70 for most of my life. Old age is closing in, so that has to be a factor.

Hope all recover from that flu bug that is going around. My sister has had it for three weeks. Gotta go and take my Vit. C.

Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better now. I'm doing good. I got my hair cut and highlighted today. That's always a good thing. I styled it a bit differently. Still debating whether I'll keep it like that or not. I'm a creature of habit I guess.

Getting your hair highlighted is always fun. :) I'm glad you had a productive day.

I got up early to go to an art sale at the children's book illustration museum. They weren't selling any children's book art, but they had original art from greeting cards, some artists' proofs, children's books, and some other random things. I bought two paintings from greeting cards of flowers, they're really pretty. And two books for my sister and her classroom (she's an education major in college).

Now just trying to figure out what to do with the rest of my day...

That sounds like fun! I just re-decorated my living room so now I need to get some art work to brighten it up. I don't want to spend a lot of money though...so that might be a problem. My friend always seems to find nice paintings, cheap. I'll probably ask her to keep an eye out for something for me.

How's everyone else doing today? I'm good. A bit on the cranky side this morning, to my hubby. That usually happens whenever he is getting ready to start back to work. It's kinda stupid really. I start feeling yuck because I'm gonna miss him being around, so instead of expressing that, I end up expressing irritation towards him. It can get quite stressful handling everything by myself, for at least 3 months, while he works sunup till sunset! Then he will be around a bit more for a month, then I'm on my own again for 3-4 months. At least with the last couple of those months, it gets darker earlier so he doesn't work as late each day. I'm probably just a big baby!!! Suck it up and deal with it, just like everyone else does!

You can always get some nice prints and frame them, they look nice. Prints are cheap and if they're framed well they look nice. The paintings I bought today were only $5 each... when I buy artwork I don't spend much, because I'm just a poor artist myself lol. Maybe your friend can find you something though.

I thought my day was going ot be really boring but I got called into work tonight. So I guess I'll be spending the evening working instead. Which is good, I need the money and it helps me to be out doing stuff. I'm happier when I'm busy ;)

I'm sorry about your husband being gone so much, that must be hard. I'm really close to my family, I miss them when they're working all day.

 Hannah. I hope you're feeling a bit better today! Being sick is never fun, and especially not at the end of the semester, what with all the stress that you've got to deal with already. Try to take some "me-time" when you can, to let yourself relax. Sometimes getting so keyed up over end-of-term work can really wreak havoc with your immune system.

Mask, I don't think I'm taking on too much, what with the tutoring and studying. This summer I know it won't be too much, since I'm not taking any summer classes - just a handy summer job, only 8 hr/wk. This fall it's either going to be 6 or 8 hr/wk, so not that bad... and I'm kind of planning on taking only 9 credit hours, which is parttime, because that's what I'm taking now, and I'm not being very successful at keeping stress down. Last night was a total freakout night. It's the first one in months that I've ended up on the floor crying. Things just all seem to be coming at me at once. And my fiance is swift to tell me that he thinks that I'm just not ready for uni yet, after all the stuff that I've been going through, and I'm inclined to believe him now... every fulltime semester that I've ever had have ended up in something bad. Twice the psych ward, and then this semester insomnia, and worsening of mood and overuse of caffeine. It sounds like I will be going on lithium for bipolar, which may require a complete shuffling of meds. I don't know, though... we'll see about that one, but it was a suggestion from both my NP and her consulting psych. :swoon:

Oh, and I can kind of understand how difficult it is to have your husband gone that much, because my fiance and I are separated by 1200 miles right now, and won't have seen each other from December to this May, and then again from May to September. But if that is hard... I can't imagine how hard it must be to have your husband gone that long... and have to handle your kids alone as well. Kudos to you for managing it!!

Lynne, that sounds fun! :)

Anyway... other than all that stuff, today I am doing okay. Karate this evening... which I am nervous about since I haven't really practiced the techniques that much, and I'm testing in a week. Oh dear.

Molly sends her greetings! ♥

Hey Mask::wave:

I love decorating the house. My sister and I go thrift shopping often and I have found some beautiful pictures for very little cost. I have a beautiful large ocean painting above my bed and another large painting of the Grand Canyon over the fire place. We found both those at the Goodwill thrift shop. I love thrift shopping.
