CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Then you have common ground with the posters there. ...and a reason to spend your posting time there.Well, sure! And that's why I often post there, though I'm a member here. I don't find liberal theology convincing, but I like rainbows!
For myself, being in many ways a social conservative, I would have no common ground there as far as much liberal ideology goes.
But, insofar as there are discussions of Christ, then a conservative Christian may potentially find common ground in discussions of Christ there.
And if it is discussions about liberal theology, then so be it. As long as it is sincere belief about Christ, right or wrong, it is relevant, and of interest to me.
So as long as the members there are not even interested in even discussig that, then it's all about liking rainbows, and that's all.

I think alot of the point around 4U is to keep it at rainbows and cotton candy - on purpose.
Even though there's nothing wrong with that, I think it's intended to keep people from constant wars everywhere... or at least salvage some friendship & love.
And part of me thinks that the wars do no good anyways becuz people are so entrenched in what they believe, that nothing's going to change that here; so why bother fighting back & forth?
I guess the best we can do is seek to understand why people believe what they do (or don't) - and just form assessments from that as to how we interact or divide.
