  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

i thought i would need college loans, that's why i started working two jobs instead. turns out my dad said he'd cover half my tuition/books, which turned out almost 2600 total. i'm not struggling for money, although i do have to watch it because of insurance, car payments, and gas.

Hey Kristi, I am going through this right now as well. The first thing you want to do is fill out a fafsa form. You can do it online at www.fafsa.com. If you are going to take out a loan through anything other than what fafsa awards (federal stafford loans) I would do it through your bank, with one of your parents as a cosigner. I would run far far away from those internet sites, chances are you will get nailed in the end. It is probably to late to file fafsa for fall semester, but get one in a.s.a.p for spring. I didn't think I'd get anything, but I got awarded 1900 dollars per semester in grants (don't have to pay back), and 1300 dollars in loans (subsidized). That really is the way to go, talk to someone at your college's financial aid office for more info. Definately stay away from the internet loans though...they can be tricky, and you could end up getting into a lot of debt.

The address for the FAFSA on the web is actually www.fafsa.ed.gov, just so ya'll know... fafsa.com is a site that links you to the FAFSA but charges you $50-$190 to do it. :) (kinda funny/ironic since it's the FREE Application for Federal Student Aid... They'll get us poor students any way they can...)

aww, ****. I ended up paying 90 dollars or whatever to file mine. Its still a legitamate form, cause all my stuff went through. I wonder if that's even legal for them to do. They make it sound like it is a required fee. I feel violated. :(
