College Drinking

I personally am highly against it and I really don't like to be surrounded by people who do drink. It is a big issue for me because I feel like everyone but me and my boyfriend have been drunk at one time or another.

Just looking for other views and possibly some ways to look past this when meeting others.

i've always been against getting "crunked" up....it's foolishness....at school it's soooooo "the cool thing to do" lol....but i've resisted....i'm not at school to drink...so i'm gonna be commutting next year and the next.....

I am not into the whole getting "drunk" thing. I will though, when I am 21 in all, have a few drinks. A Margarita or something. I have seen the affects of what obssesive drinking does. And that just doesn't appeal to me all that much.

I don't particularily care. I don't drink, but if people around me do, then so be it. I'll help them out when they're on the ground passed out (after drawing all over them though ).

I find that people tend to have a lot of respect for someone who chooses not to drink. For multiple reasons - they know how much money they toss away on booze, they know what it feels to be hung over, and they know that if they're nice to the sober one, he might help them when they're drunk I've had people light-heartedly say "Bob, I'm gonna get you drunk one of these days." I laugh at them then tell them if they ever did I'd put them through a wall

But in all seriousness, if they want to drink that's fine. And I find that they have the same attitude towards me not drinking - so be it.

If you are under 21 and you drink it's a sin. The Bible calls us to obey the law of the land.
If you are of age and you drink in moderation, it can be ok. However, if you become drunk that is sin. Dont' know the specific verse, but it says "do not get drunk on wine, instead be filled with the spirit."

Well in my three years of attending a public University I've had many, many experiences with alcohol within the dorms. I've been very fortunate to have had roommates who never really abused it, but I was certainly around other "friends" who did. To be quite honest it was a hoot. I don't think there is anything funnier than someone who is drunk... it's so fun to have conversations with them! In fact, one of my fellow flight students earned the name "sweet cheeks" one evening after a certain incident in the dorms.

I'm gonna be 22 in Sept. and cannot stand alcohol, taste, effects, anything. I have a brother in law enforcement who deals with drunk drivers all the time, and personally have seen the effects of drunk driving first hand when I was just 13. Those images have been perminantly branded into my brain.

Back on topic, I feel that there is nothing wrong with alcohol as long as it is not abused. A beer here, or wine there to me is fine. (Again, I personally won't drink any alchol, but it isn't because I think it's "the devil" or anything like that... just don't like the taste really!!) I had a roommate who had two other friends who did drink a lot but NEVER got drunk. They would always (every single day) invite me to the parties and to have some beer, and I declined. (Mostly because I was a minor, as were they!) They weren't the nicest group of guys, but throughout the year we earned a strong mutual respect for each other. But, some of their acquaintences weren't as smart. I remember one dude passing out on our floor looking up at me as I was writing a paper sitting there making weird noises.

I think if you drink in moderation, do not make it a habit, and do not get wasted/drunk (along with abiding with the legal rules) then it is okay. Don't abuse it and keep it safe

Well. drinking is definately a phenomenon that will not go away. I didn't drink much in college, then got to the workplace, and it is almost expected to go out for "happy hour" drinking in order to be accepted. Quite sad, actually. I go, and have a glass of wine, eat, then go home. I figure a glass of wine now and again is not bad since Jesus drank wine, as long as you do not get drunk???

There is nothing wrong with having a bit of alchohol once you are legally old enough, althoughly the bible does say not to get drunk. If you know when to stop, then ok. However, my body being the temple of the Lord, I don't plan to drink at all, even when I am old enough. I don't wanna put somthing so harmfull into my body. Also, when it comes to sin, it isn't about how close to the line you can get, but how far from it.

ok a little about me, because of "College Drinking" and just having fun, I came VERY VERY close to getting kicked out of UF, if it were not for the fact that my daddy was on the board of alumni they would have thrown me out faster than anyone can imagine, My GPA went drasticly down and my life went spiriling dowwards. Lucky for me my daddy was able to have me placed on academin probation and I was able to graduate a year later, when I graduated I was 4 months 100% sober, there is a lot more to the story and if you really want to know read my testimony, but for now please please remember drinking leads to so much more than you want to get involved in and it is NOT worth it

I drink socially from time to time. I think that anything in excess is bad... that includes things like religion.

Just remember, Jesus turned water into wine. On a more serious note, I do not see anything wrong with drinking as long as you are of age and are responsible about it. I go out with my co-workers (most of whom are unsaved) and we have drinks. Does it hurt my witness? No, because I am responsible about it. I don't get drunk or drink in excess.

If not being drunk you are able to be filled in the spirit does even drinking one drink bring you further away? I think it does.

When I was younger I drank a lot. I made a lot of bad decisions while I was drunk. I think it is better for you not to be teetering on the edge of drunkenness and just "drink" from the Holy Spirit.

Another thing that needs to be remembered is that we need to love. Don't judge those who dont agree. It is based on Biblical truth, so if that is important to them you can (tactfully) point it out. If it is someone who doesn't care about Biblical truth then you can wait for them to ask or more carefully point it out.

drinking to me just leads to problems not to mention i need all the braincells i can get. But really the decision is between The Father and the person. for me its a waist of time and money.

You make statements that are broad. Drinking does not ALWAYS lead to problems. As I have mentioned before, I go out wiht friends to drink every now and then. Alcohol is a drink, much like any other drink.. soda for example. It can be abused, just like anything else, however, in moderation is not a bad thing.
