  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

College aged bible study

I am from Seattle and moved to Chicagoland.
When I was in Seattle I went to an amazing college-aged bible study and it was really a life changing group. Now that I am in Chicago I just can't find that. Our school/church has a college aged group but it's awful.. worse then tri-weekly chapel meetings.
The person who runs this group says that we are the reason the group doesn't run right. He is often found saying that if we don't have time to come to this group then we don't have our priorities straight. I've also been accused of not desiring to draw near with God because I don't go! It's not that I don't have time to meet with God but going to this group is a total waste of time.
I've been thinking about trying to find a college-aged group away from this church but it would get very hard seeing as I don't have a vehicle. for right now I have just stopped going to the meetings all together.
Anyone have any suggestions?

what kinda manpower do you need? just invite a buncha people you think would like to/ needs to go to bible study. start with a few friends and let it blossom from there. if you the school you are going to has any amount of christians then im sure there will be SOMEONE looking for a good bible study to go to.

listen to Nike', JUST DO IT!

i dont want to sound harsh, but i think that a bible study is always beneficial and if you arent being fullfilled where you were going before then its not a bad idea to test all the waters and see where God places you. if for some reason it falls through then you can at least say that you tried. besides, it may prove to be a blessing beyond what you ever believed. personal bible studies are profound areas for personal evangelism. just think about it. you will be in my future prayers.
