  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

All the literature I see says that moderate intake of coffee is a benefit to health.

Let me put it this way:

Smoking my be hazardous to your health.
Coffee-Drinking may be beneficial to your well being! :)

I have known many people who were definitely safer for everyone around them, after having their morning coffee.

I never ever thought that coffee drinking might be bad! :)

Whether bad or not to give up coffee, be aware that going to zero coffee immediately may cause chemical imbalance and depression.

By the way. drinking coffee moderately daily, eg 2 to 3 cups a day, is usually beneficial for most people, if not taken in excess

There is a chemical addiction to caffeine, and it's not limited to coffee drinkers. Some soft drinks have enough caffeine to do that as well. Apparently, it's not all that hard to get over, but a "cold turkey" approach does seem to have some bad effects.

It's not a medical issue unless you have some underlying condition that makes it a problem for you.

Well.... The morning's coffee isn't so bad after all!

Coffee Drinking Linked to Lower Mortality Risk, New Study Finds
Yay. Coffee is a vasodilater so in the absence of other medication can help a person having an asthmatic attack.
Physicians recommend keeping your consumption down to 6 cups/day maximum.
I've always been a coffee drinker, but had to switch to artificial sweeteners after I was diagnosed with type II diabetes. The sugar in my coffee was actually making me tired and sleepy.

6 cups a day ... that was what I used to average daily for many years ... until about 2020 , now its about 2 or 3 cups a day. It is quite strong coffee, such as grinder coffee or coffee beans coffee.. I used to drink coffee late in evening 10pm and fell asleep within the hour, because too much caffeine (6 cups daily) lost the effect. But its different now, a third cup at 8pm may keep me awake.

My coffee recipe, after many years of practice:

ground real coffee - prefer grinding my own beans
cocoa
cardamon
cinnamon
a little salt

the above into a french press

then

a bit of butter
minimal sugar.

There - human again.

One cup a day is enough for me.

In other news, my brother bought me this mug for Christmas one year and it was my favorite present that year (odd joke and many will not get it).
