Over in the open debate forum, Vance is the main person who leads their cause. He says he leads a 'stumbling block ramp' ministry. I wonder if he has thought about those who say if evolution is true I cannot be a Christian because the Bible can be taken any way you wish. I have met with actually quite few of people who think this. They believe if you can make Genesis allegorical then you can make the Gospels allegorical and believe that Bible just is there to teach us to be better people.
I wonder if he has a ramp for those people who will come to faith because of creationism. I wonder after he has tried to destroy YEC thinking, what he will do for those who have lost their faith, or will now not choose faith in JEsus because the Bible seems now inconsistent.
Remember when you were young and the person who acted out the most? Did they act out more when everyone gave them attention? Did they eventually stop when no one gave them any attention? They usually stop when they do not receive the attention they want. Maybe we should do like wise. Let them slander us, let them say we are the reason why so many have not choosen Christ. Let them lie about us. They say we misrepresent them, then they turn and misrepresent us. I am sure we misrepresent them at times, how can you not in this type of media where you can add in the sarcasm if you want to someone elses post, where you can make them say what they aren't saying. It is too easy when you don't have respect or dislike someone.
Honestly, there are more stumbling blocks that are much greater then a young earth. Even prominant scientists have said that evolution is unscientific, but the alternative is unacceptable. The greatest stumbling block I think is Jesus Christ being God Himself, who came down here died on the cross, arose from the dead 3 days later and ascended to the right hand of the Father. Another is Jesus Christ is the only way to God. These are real and great stumbling blocks. But we will not remove these or create a ramp over them, otherwise we can call ourselves many of the other religions out there.
Sometimes it is hard to just let the debate go. Let them feel as though they are right. Let them feel they have won. Jesus many times turned His back and walked away from those who refuse to listen. I am not saying we 100% sure we are right, because I believe none of us thinks this. We just know that we will stick to what the Bible says, even when our own brothers and sisters will persecute us for doing so. Jesus said we will be persecuted, but He also said vengence is His, not ours. We need not prove what we believe is correct or what they believe is wrong. Regardless of who is right, whatever God did will always stand no matter who says what.
